A great little "spring break", and now it's Book Fair week at school. It's going to be a long week...

OhioFoothills--April theme is "Macro Mania".

Taken with an iPhone 4 macro, edited with an iPad 2

More macro mania. I think this may be a weed, picked from my front garden. The heads of these 'flowers' measure just 1/2cm.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to comment, much appreciated :-)

I gave this a little nudge to see if it would open its wings. It did, but flew onto the sleeve of my cardie.

*Macro mania – disorder, avoiding the scenery, delaying getting out of the car in honor of a very small critter flying in using your finger as a Landing strip : - )

Macro Mania entries are due this weekend for the OhioFoothills' challenge.

Tiger Flower, Påfågelslilja, Tigerblomma, Tigridia povonia.

This exotic Mexican bulb is sometimes called peacock flower, an appropriate name in view of its quite startling colour combinations- all the shades of scarlet, orange, pink, yellow, mauve and white, usually with contrasting markings.

Exotisk medlem av irisfamiljen med svärdsliknande bladverk och iögonfallande 10 cm stora blommor i gult, rött, rosa och rent vitt,

This is an RBOKL shot - Reverse Bottle On Kit Lens. I hand held it together - if you want to get sophisticated, use electrical tape! See here:

My camera had the standard kit lens (18-105mm) mounted, with my macro lens (front against the kit lens). The macro bottle DOF lever must be fully OPEN. Closing the aperture down will only narrow the field of view.

Control the DOF with the kit lens (f32 in this case). If you want really shallow DOF (depth of field) then leave the kit lens wider open.

Macro bottle is an old manual lens from an old film camera (55mm, f1.2).

Shoot with kit lens on tele (105mm) to minimise vignetting from the macro bottle. The bottle should also have a large aperture to minimise vignetting. To maximise magnification, set the macro bottle to infinity, kit lens to closest focus.

This 3T is wild and crazy close!

Tulip macro that I thought would look right at home in a modern art museum!

I haven't seen a sky like this in awhile, so thought I'd post this one....and also felt the need to take a break from my macro mania ;-)

My friend Aaron gave me his dedicated macro lens to try out for a few days. It's opened up a whole new world to me, just like he said it would.

Butterflies of Morocco exhibit. I finally had motive to figure out the macro-setting on my 105mm zoom. The best part is that I know it is good enough for me that I don't have the burning desire to go spend much needed money on another lens that I may not get to use very much.

I grow tired of typing text here, the photo has notes :-)

One of my favourite colours that a geranium comes in. For me it exudes happiness =))

1. Directly onto my Nikon body F mount using a 58mm thread to Nikon F mount adapter.

2, Onto the front of my Nikon 55-300 mm lens using a 58/58mm coupling adapter.

For the time being, I have to hand-hold the lens in place (not very convenient, especially if you have les than 3 hands!).
