Cameras has been part of smart phones now a days so i lost the interest in taking pictures using my old entry level DSLR. i had been busy with other interests as well (triathlon, firearm shooting etc) so i totally give up my interest in learning digital photography. Somehow my interest in taking pictures came back again just recently and so i bought a mirrorless camera and now busy again playing with my new toy:)
27 November: wasps have made a nest conveniently around the clapper of a brass bell we have on the verandah.
A robber fly has caught a small white moth. Combination of on-camera flash and bright sunlight from the right, hence the double reflection in the compound eyes.
A long-legged mosquito on poppy. Shot taken with Canon 40D using the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L macro lens.
I couldn't believe what a good subject he was. I slowly came in close and when I was within a few inches, he just swiveled his head to get a good look at me. I finally got in a little too close and he flew off.
If someone can identify the species, I'd like to know. It does not look like anopheles or culex to me but I'm not sure. (She's quite alive in this photo, by the way.)
Playing with my extension tubes on my manual focus legacy lens Nikkor 135mm F3.5 handheld. This hoverfly is on a small flowering hebe in my garden today.
Went bug hunting yesterday with my new toy (D700), only managed to shot for abt an hr or so and it started drizzling!! Got to abandon my macro mission thereafter, though shortlived, still managed some decent shots to share with all! Happy Viewing!!!

This spider suddenly came out of his web whilst I was photographing him, but was only there long enough to get 2 shots before retreating into his web
