See large size. Old abandoned rusting truck captured in Sausalito (just north of San Francisco) California in the mid 70;s. This is an old kodachrome slide that was macro captured with my Sigma 150mm Macro.

I love taking photos of rain droplets on little moss plants, or other tiny plants. You never know what the camera will reflect and magnify, and I do enjoy opening the pictures in the computer to see what's there. Often the detail has been so tiny, I've been unable to see it with my eyes.

Este podría ser uno de los insectos más extraños y sorprendentes que he visto y fotografiado.

Capturing sunlight, one droplet at a time...

A selection of shots from Arnot Hill Park, Nottingham.

Not sure what it is. It caught my eye while in the parkland.

Dandelions. Very common weed that adorns urban areas, gardens, fields and just about anywhere. Whatever you think of it, its various stages of transition are magical from a photographic perspective.

Dandelions may be considered a nuisance in parts of the garden, especially in weed-free lawns but have many herbal uses and are a good early source of nectar and pollen for insects so worth tolerating where possible.

Taraxacum is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, which consists of species commonly known as Dandelions.

In the soft morning light, this Long-tailed Blue butterfly (Lampides boeticus) pauses for just a moment on a green leaf. Its detailed wing patterns and vibrant orange eyespots stand out against the lush garden background.

This macro capture highlights how even the smallest creatures can hold extraordinary beauty when seen up close.

Macro capture of the Crab Spider which I never would have seen had I not had my macro lens.

"The Business End".

So, which end is the "business end"?

Well,

that would depend on what kinda business you're talkin' about!

And, talkin' about business I have to wonder what kinda cell reception this guy gets with all those antennas.

Note:

A word about technique.

Needless to say I used a tripod to make this capture (where each and every bristle on this guys "antennas" is in crisp focus). But it takes two 2 tango (i.e. both the camera and the subject have to be steady to make crisp macro captures). So I set the camera to "live view" (i.e. viewing on the back screen), pumped the mag up to 10X, and waited for the subject's perch to hold steady for a few parts of a second before tripping the "shutter".

But even then (since the world is a constantly changing place) it's hard to say when things will hold still long enough to allow for shutter lag (and/or human reflexes), so I took a half dozen pics with this one being the sharpest.

Two water drops on a blade of grass. The flower is behind the blade of grass and refracting in the drops. Shot with a 40 yr old reverse mounted Vivitar 28mm lens and an inexpensive focusing rail. Everything is manual but you get 2/1 magnification.
