These Allium Siculums are beginning to unfurl in my garden. They need a thin garden cane to help support them at this stage.

Nectaroscordum (Allium).

Alliums are part of the onion family. They bloom with bell-shaped flowers offering reddish-purple markings as you can see. Known as the Honey Garlic, Sicilian Honey Lily, Sicilian Honey Garlic, or Mediterranean Bells, is a European and Turkish species of plants genus Allium. It is native to the regions around the Mediterranean and Black Seas, and grown in other regions as an ornamental and as a culinary herb.

it may be my imagination but I think phone cameras excel at macro capture.

Macro capture of Turkeytail mushroom, lichen and moss on Garry oak tree branch in late February.

Garry oak ecosystems range from shady woodlands to open meadows with scattered trees which support many life forms including moss, lichens and fungi. Under the shelter of oak canopies or in meadows, spring wildflowers, grasses, mosses, and a variety of shrubs flourish.

A popular spot among local photographers.

Wide angle macro captured using a relay lens system (2.7mm M12 lens focuses the image onto a "virtual" plane which, in turn, is projected onto camera's sensor by a reversed 24mm).

The ferns in my garden are steadily unfolding. Now's the perfect time to capture some macro shots.

Cobweb from a Bluebell.

Recently visited Oldmoor Wood, Nottinghamshire. Oldmoor Wood is a woodland in Nottinghamshire, near the village of Strelley. It covers a total area of 15.11 hectares. It is owned and managed by The Woodland Trust.

I went primarily for the beautiful Bluebells. There is a mix of Native and Spanish Bluebells.

Native Bluebells are protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.

How to tell the difference.

English Bluebells: Flowers on one side of the stem.

Spanish Bluebells: Flowers all around the stem.

A macro capture of a single icicle melting, with a water droplet caught in midair. Crisp detail and soft background bokeh evoke a fleeting winter moment. I love the tiny spherical drop hanging at the bottom of the icicle

Dragonflies are among the oldest insects on Earth, and their eyes, composed of numerous ommatidia, allow them to see almost 360 degrees around them. This makes them some of the most skilled predators in aerial hunting.

In this photo: a member of the Agelenidae family of spiders sits in its web, lying in wait for its prey. ️ Attention to detail and patience are its main weapons in this art of hunting. 🌿

Seen this little fella at Attenborough Nature Reserve here in Nottinghamshire. He was happy to sit and pose for a few minutes.

The centre and the reserve is named after naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

I love taking photos of rain droplets on little moss plants, or other tiny plants. You never know what the camera will reflect and magnify, and I do enjoy opening the pictures in the computer to see what's there. Often the detail has been so tiny, I've been unable to see it with my eyes.

What's not to like in this unusual coloured rose? There is one garden that has a lot of roses and many are very unusual colours. Taken in local garden July 9, 2017.

The Southern Emerald Damselfly (Lestes barbarus) is a slender damselfly, 40–45 mm long, with transparent wings. Its body shines metallic green or copper, with broad, light stripes. A distinctive feature is its bicolored wing spot, brown on the inside and whitish on the outside. It lives near small, sunny water bodies with dense vegetation and is active from June to September. The eggs overwinter, and the larvae develop into damselflies within 2–3 months.

Not a macro capture.

I've been taking pictures of minimum flowers (no more than 5 mm), trailing plants that we usually do not observe in everyday life.
