Whilst on macro captures here's one from our recent few days at Winthorpe on the Lincolnshire Coast..

Traveller’s joy has been used in various treatments as it is said to contain anti-inflammatory properties. Traditional recipes used the plant to treat various ailments, including skin irritations and stress.

As this species is a woody plant, the stem was used in the past to make baskets. It is called traveller's joy because it adorns hedges and banks in the countryside with billows of beautiful feathery seed heads in the grey months leading up to Christmas.

Recently visited Oldmoor Wood, Nottinghamshire. Oldmoor Wood is a woodland in Nottinghamshire, near the village of Strelley. It covers a total area of 15.11 hectares. It is owned and managed by The Woodland Trust.

I went primarily for the beautiful Bluebells. There is a mix of Native and Spanish Bluebells.

Native Bluebells are protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.

How to tell the difference.

English Bluebells: Flowers on one side of the stem.

Spanish Bluebells: Flowers all around the stem.

Sorry, another capture of frost crystals on a leaf. The last one, I think. I had planned to take photos of the landscape along the river Neckar that day but in the end I came home with lots of macro captures of frost on different structures and only very few landscape shots. Well, frost isn't particularly long lasting and you have to seize the moment. :)

While out in the freezing taking some macro captures handheld, I took two captures of this half frozen drop of water hanging from the end of the small branch. One capture was focused on the end of the branch, and then the next capture was focused on the reflection of the trees there in the water droplet. Combined them here into one capture.

Purple and yellow jail for little bee! Could you see him? :)

Another new camera that I treated myself to and it cost less than a tenner !!

It measures just 2 centimetres at it's widest or less than an inch if you want it in English . It lives on a ring attached to the case for the G1 X , but for this afternoon it came off for a macro capture as my one shot a day .

Dandelions. Very common weed that adorns urban areas, gardens, fields and just about anywhere. Whatever you think of it, its various stages of transition are magical from a photographic perspective.

Dandelions may be considered a nuisance in parts of the garden, especially in weed-free lawns but have many herbal uses and are a good early source of nectar and pollen for insects so worth tolerating where possible.

Taraxacum is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, which consists of species commonly known as Dandelions.

Seen this little fella at Attenborough Nature Reserve here in Nottinghamshire. He was happy to sit and pose for a few minutes.

The centre and the reserve is named after naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

Don't ask me how long I've had these little things in the fridge. It's probably 2 or 3 years. We don't usually enjoy garlic, however for a while I was subscribing to a meal kit delivery service and they included garlic in the kits. I ended up with quite a bit of it, however these few are the last ones left - I wonder if I ever will use them?

This capture was taken on the bottom board of the hive. The yellow stuff is pollen and the white stuff is wax. This mite is the worst enemy of the honey bee and it is the first time I have seen one in my hives. They are there in the hive and on the bees, but they are so tiny it is difficult to see them. Super macro capture is what you are seeing here. If you have bees, you have varroa mites; they are just terrible things in the bee world and if not treated can wipe out a hive.

Several hot days without rain.
