This will be a vibrant purple in a few days. Had 3/4" of rain yesterday (very unusual) and now bright and sunny today.

I found this and many more on a single shrub, all in different sizes of growth and only in blue and orange. The garden was inside a CRPF camp and had to prescribe medicines to the one on guard to get in. Couldn't get a better shot with the wings expanded. As I was trying harder, the guard getting more impatient, so I had to return without what I was willing to shoot.

This is one of my favorite of the day. It was delicate and beautiful and it let me hold it on my hand for a while.
The backlighting on this Tiger Swallowtail shows that he has had a bit of a rough Summer with numerious rips, dents and scratches showing on his wings. This photo taken in my back yard Aug 2011.
This is why I love the X-10. 3 seconds before I captured this image the camera was off with the lens cap on!
