Lycaena phlaeas
The small copper, American copper, or the common copper (Lycaena phlaeas) is a butterfly of the Lycaenids or gossamer-winged butterfly family. According to Guppy and Shepard (2001), its specific name phlaeas is said to be derived either from the Greek Phlego, "to burn up" or from the Latin Floreo, "to flourish".

Unknown caterpillars came ate almost every leaf of this tree and all but a few remained the next day. I hope I get to see the butterfly or moth they will turn into.

First butterfly pupa I've seen in the garden. Suspect it's a red admiral. This was on the underside of an aluminium strut on the greenhouse (outside). Wonderful textures on it. Focus stacked using zerene
