My new Mac and other stuff...

You know Christmas is near, when Mac appears with tinsel on him.

After unpacking the decorations, I made sure Mac was posed for his Xmas special. It was a long winded, frustrating affair, but we got there in the end.

The festive efforts from previous years can be seen below:

They belonged to my dad. I wear them once every few years. They walked

San Francisco tonight. We had a perfect time.

After NS purchased a number of former Union Pacific SD9043MACs, a small handful of them were modified with cab signals, enabling them to lead trains across the former PRR Pittsburgh Line.

On the morning of February 7, 2016, we find NS 7266 in charge of eastbound stack train 24W, passing through the interlocking and Amtrak station at Latrobe, PA. Currently, this unit is stored in Altoona, awaiting to be rebuilt as an SD70ACu.

These little morsels are so challenging to make, but so delicious I will take the challenge weekly!

For more than 35 years I've used exclusively Windows machines. About 20 years ago I gave up desktop computers for laptops. But for my new computer this month, I chose a Mac Studio with 5K 27" display. The better to process photos with, my dear. I hope it will also be easier on my eyes, affected by ME/CFS. I'll add a Mac keyboard soon.

For years I've held onto a one-time purchase version of Lightroom Classic, but today I purchased the subscription version along with Photoshop.

It's a big learning curve adapting to the subtle differences between Windows & Mac. But I'm happy with the adventure so far.

Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.

Huge US Air Force Lockheed C-5A Galaxy, 68-0224 raises her nose to unload her cargo at RAF Mildenhall on a June evening way back in 1975.

We'd watched her arrive earlier - standing under the approach lights until being enveloped by her gigantic presence and thunderous noise - she washed right over our heads with everything 'hanging out' to land at this sprawling Suffolk Air base.

Back then she came under the appropriately named 'Military Airlift Command' (MAC) which replaced the old MATS (Military Air transport Service). MAC is long gone - now renamed rather insipidly - AMC (Air Mobility Command).

One of the largest aircraft flying most early C-5A's are being phased out to the boneyard in Arizona but some of the later C-5B models are being rebuilt as the vastly improved C-5M with new systems, engines and a 'glass' cockpit, these giants wil be around for a few more years to come.
