Bolton Corporation buses were a familiar sight in Blackpool on hire to Ribble. This Layland PD2 with an Orion body by M.C.W. wears the later livery and had arrived as an X60 duplicate

A North Western AEC Renown is almost hidden .

I do not know the identity of the Bedford VAL loading for Birmingham.

Preserved Travel West Midlands Timesaver liveried M.C.W. Metrobus MkII 2957, D 957 NDA is pictured at a rally on Blackpool promenade.

London Pride part open top M.C.W. Metrobus 252, EWF 452 V is pictured crossing Tower Bridge. This bus was new to South Yorkshire Transport (#452) before passing to Grey-Green (#452) and served in Ensign's City Sightseeing fleet (#252) and carried registration WLT 752 for a while before eventually becoming a mobile exhibition / publicity unit.

Shoreline Suncruisers open top M.C.W. Metrobus C 346 BUV was originally numbered M1348 in the London Buses fleet, passing to Metroline upon privatisation. It is pictured working a northbound journey on Scarborough seafront.

Preserved Travel West Midlands M.C.W. Metrobus MkII 2989, E 989 VUK carried Wolverhampton Corporation 'heritage livery when pictured at a rally at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent.

Arriva Original London Sightseeing Tour open top M.C.W. Metrobus MkII EMB769, E 769 JAR (ex-DT 7256 [HK]) was originally numbered ML47 in the China Motor Bus, Hong Kong fleeet and is pictured near Victoria station.

Preserved G.M. Buses Northern Counties bodied M.C.W. Metrobus 5320, D 320 LNB at a bus rally at Leeds United Football Club's Elland Road Stadium.

Preserved Top Line Travel M.C.W. Metrobus B 105 WUL was new to London Buses, numbered M1105 and was pictured at a bus rally at Leeds United Football Club's Elland Road Stadium.

City Sightseeing open top M.C,W, Metrobus 302 BYX 302 V is pictured at a rally in Heaton Park, Manchester whilst allocated to the Manchester tour, operated by Blackpool Transport (#802). This bus was originally numbered M302 in the London Transport fleet, passing to London General when London Buses was privatised and has since been reallocated to the City Sightseeing tour in Washington D.C. (#312) where it has carried registrations 077 27P & 006 P79.

West Midlands Travel experimentally converted M.C.W. bodied Leyland Fleetline doube decker 6956, WDA 956 T to single deck, renumbering it 1956 and the result is seen on the right of this photo taken at a rally in Kidderminster. No more examples were converted and this ugly brute remained unique, and has since passed into presrvation after only serving for 3-4 years in cut-down guise.

Preserved Greater Manchester Transport M.C.W. Metrobus 5001, GBU 1 V is pictured at a rally in Fleetwood.

Preserved Strathtay M.C.W. Metrorider 215, E 186 BNS is pictured at a bus rally at Brough. This bus was new to Strathclyde's Buses (#M89) before being transferred to G.C.T. (#GM47) and later to Kelvin Central (#1059 then MM34 & finally MM89). It was later sold to Yorkshire Traction, initially for spares but deemed too good for that and placed in service numbered 352 before being transferred to Strathtay where it remained until being bought for preservation.

Preserved Northern M.C.W. MkII Metrobus 3501, UTN 501 Y operating a journey from Brough to Kirkby Stephen.during a vintage vehicle weekend.

TM Travel M.C.W. Metrobus KYV 800 X is pictured on layover at Chesterfield bus station. This bus was new to London Buses (#M800), passing to MTL London upon privatisation and also operating for Eastonways, Ramsgate before being acquired by TM Travel.

Stagecoach Cumberland M.C.W. Metrorider 90, E 317 BRM was new to Brownrigg's, Egremont and was in Coachline livery when pictured at Preston bus station.

City Sightseeing open top M.C.W. Metrobus 364, A 964 SYF is pictured at a rally in Blackpool whilst allocated to the Blackpool tour, operated by Blackpool Transport (#864).

The Original Tour's EMB767 E767JAR an M C W 12m Tri-axle Metrobus , that originally saw service in the Far East was new in 1987, is seen in Park Lane on Saturday 15th-August-2009

Preserved Leicester City Transport M.C.W. bodied Scania BR111DH 'Metropolitan' 301, GJF 301 N at Showbus 2007, Duxford.

Newport Transport 104 (PGC 204L), Metro-Scania CR111MH fitted with M.C.W. B41D body, new 8/73. Acquired in 10/78 from London Transport (MS4).

 

Shown in High Street, Newport on 23/04/90. Recorded as withdrawn in 12/90, although stored from 5/90.

City Sightseeing open top M.C.W. Metrobus 364, A 964 SYF was originally numbered M964 in the London Buses fleet, passing to M.T.L. London upon privatisation, this operation later passing to Metroline before the bus was sold to Ensignbus for it's City Sightseeing fleet. It is pictured acting as rally control vehicle in Fleetwood whilst assigned to the Blackpool tour, operated by Blackpool Transport (#864) but has since been reallocated to the City Sightseeing tour of Porto, Portugal.

As far as I am aware the 2 Leyland Panthers with M.C.W. Topaz bodies of East Yorkshire were unique.

One of them is seen on Seymour Road Blackpool in the late 1960s

Heysham Travel M.C.W. bodied Leyland Fleetline NOC 396 R was new to West Midlands P.T.E. (#6396) but acquired from City Fleet, Liverpool and is pictured in Morecambe whilst working the Pontins contract to Middleton Towers.

Newport Transport 105 (PGC 205L), Metro-Scania CR111MH fitted with M.C.W. B41D body, new 8/73. Acquired from London Transport (MS5) in 10/78.

 

My negative strip for this image is dated 11/90; the bus was withdrawn in 12/90 and recorded as stored since 5/90, so it is possibly an incorrect image date. 105 is shown on the Kingsway passing Ebenezer Terrace.

This 77 seat MCW Metrobus MkII (distinguishable from the Mk I due to its symmetrical windscreen) was new with nine others (UTN501-10Y) to Northern General’s Chester-le-Street depot in June 1983, becoming the first of its type to be delivered to a NBC constituent. Only 12 Metrobuses ever left Metro-Cammell in this livery and no.3501 looks good in it as it enters Kirkby Stephen.

Preserved Strathtay M.C.W. Metrorider 213, E 186 BNS is pictured at a bus rally at Brough. This bus was new to Strathclyde's Buses (#M89) before being transferred to G.C.T. Heysham Travel M.C.W. bodied Leyland Fleetline 596, NOC 396 R was new to West Midlands P.T.E. (#6396) but acquired from City Fleet, Liverpool and is pictured working a school service in Torrisholme.

Strathclyde's Buses M.C.W. Metroliner C14, 755 SBH (ex-A 741 RNS) carried SB Travel fleetnames when pictured at a rally in Fleetwood.

Arriva Merseyside M.C.W. Metrobus MkII 3814, F 814 YLV was originally numbered 814 in the Merseybus fleet and is pictured at a rally in Heaton Park, Manchester. This bus subsequently passed to Geldards, Leeds.

Ex South Wales Transport, M.C.W. Metrorider 270 (E270 REP). Cardiff, 2nd of September 1996.

Arriva Original London Sightseeing Tour open top M.C.W. Metrobus MB748, KYV 748 X is pictured in Coventry Street near Piccadilly Circus. Originally numbered M748 in the London Buses fleet it passed via Leaside Buses and Arriva London to reach the O.L.S.T. fleet after which it passed to Ensignbus for its City Sightseeing fleet where it was exported to Portugal registered 82 DM 30 for use in Porto.

East Yorkshire open top MCW bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68/2R 889, VFT 189 T was new to Tyne & Wear Transport. was named Belinda and in an advertising livery for Flamingoland, when pictured on Scarborough seafront.

Mayne's M.C.W. bodied Leyland Fleetline 33, THX 303 S was new to London Transport (#DMS2303) and pictured as it enters Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester. It later passed into preservation bus is believed to have been subsequently scrapped.

Stagecoach In Yorkshire M.C.W. Metrobus MkII 15880, D 710 NKY was still in Yorkshire Traction livery complete with fleet number 710 when pictured at Barnsley Interchange.

Go Ahead Gateshead M.C.W. Metrobus 3497, DVK 497 W loading at Gateshead Metro Interchange.
