Progress on the Nostromo - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 1979. Working on corridors when I can find the time. A bit stretched with it being the holidays and all - plenty of late night/early morning work last week since it was the only time I could find. Building each corridor wall is a chore but looks so good when a set begins to take shape. I'm presently working on the corridors stretching from the galley as well as the stretch of corridor that wraps around the Auto Doc (Medical Bay). And wouildn;t ya know...just when I get on a role I run out of material...all materials!!! Molding, casting, sheet styrene, sculpting materials - I need to better manage my inventory! LOL! #alien #nostromo #corridors #sith_fire30 #weylandyutani
The Brooklyn Alien, from Peter Kokis of Brooklyn RobotWorks. The exoskeleton is now seven years old...yes, that is me inside... Photo credit to Beth Brown.
As seen in the film, the other three Engineers in their chambers did not survive their slumber....something "burst" out.... It has not been confirmed what happened though. Melted canopy - PROMETHEUS 1:18 scale. The three corpses inside the chambers will be weathered husks using casts of the surviving Engineer, and the canopies will clouded to resemble chemical burn and reaction. #Prometheus #engineer #deacon #chestburster

I try to update you with as much of my Nostromo build as possible...even the less interesting things, even when they contain MAJOR screw-ups. This image contains both....You have your pilot chair, alt. flight chair and the chair for MUTHUR's control room....all work in progress. Then you have the last sectional for the galley...and here is where the screw up lies. Those that are geeked out fans of the ship (like me) will be able to tell you right away that this sectional isn't long enough....the padding up top tells the story. It should have 6 pads up top, not five. Check out the actual set image and see for yourself. This pattern should also echo in the back of the chair as well - it doesn't....and I thought I was finished. I can fix this one of two ways...place this in the Sevastopol set work and start over with a new one or extend this piece up to another inch. It can be done! The padding can easily pop off and the styrene cut. It just sucks to have these set backs ya know? You customizers and model makers know this all too well!
Sculpt progress on the Chestburster - Kane - Alien 1:18 (79) scale. Created a cup to sculpt down into and build up to create the exposed cavity and the distressed garment Kane is wearing at the moment of his demise. This entire section is removable. The tail of the burster has been sculpted - the remaining baby burster will be sculpted separately to fit in the cavity you see here. I have in mind to do a version that can move and push up and through the chest using a tab going through the figure and the table along with magnets. This will be a heck of a project to paint when complete. #alien #chestburster #kane
Sculpt update on The Queen - (Aliens 86) and the Egg Morpher (Aliens: Defiance). All 1:18 scale, sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.
Began sculpting the lower jaw of the Queen. Started with a rough sculpt of the jaw, eyeballing the proportion and adding addition girth to the sculpt that once cured can be reduced through carving and sanding.
You can see my progression via the images attached. The next step will be to add a separate gumline that will include a set of lower teeth. Again, separate from the jaw so I can cast the piece in clear resin when it's time for replication.
The "neck" of the queen will need to be reworked once the master casts have been made. I'm using the smaller Revoltech Queen figure as an articulation reference for much of the articulation points for my sculpt.
For the Eggmorpher from Defiance, I've been sculpting the details to the back of the creature including the "pipes" as I like to call them as well as the separate spinal piece that emerges just below the back of the neck.
Next challenge for this sculpt will be the hands and the upper legs.
I've got a ton of pieces to mold and cast. And since just getting over a bad illness and this hurricane scare, it put me off a couple weeks. Sorry about that. I will always try for sure to get one update a week...don't want anyone to think I've fallen off LOL!
Hope you enjoyed the update! Always, more to come!

Sculpt update on the Queen - ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale. Worked on the back "fins" of the crown - one side close to completion, the other side dremeled and ready for sculpting. Also finished dremeling out the underside of the carapace so I can begin sculpting the details once the top surface is complete... Will not be long till I begin sculpting the Queen's head! Going to adopt articulation points from the Revoltech Queen and the Hot Toys AVP Snap Kits. More on that later. #queen #aliens #xenomorph #hive #sculpting #avesstudio #avesFIXITsculpt #miniature

Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien: Covenant. Completed the initial head sculpt of the beast - open mouth, attack. The next step will be to mold and cast successfully. At that point, I can take a couple quality casts and mod the sculpt to create the other two variants. Began work on the upper torso of the Neomorph - update coming soon.Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio LLC.

Additional images of "The Beast" - 1:18 scale plastic cast assembly - ALIEN (1979). Made some adjustments to the hands (smaller) and slight adjustments to the ankles and fittings on the back. Still need to make adjustments to the head sculpts and cast the bendy tail. Getting there!!! #alien #nostromo #giger
Build progress on the Narcissus Shuttle - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Finally an update huh?! It's all about the storage doors...had to do some major updates to the doors after finding some reference material that gave me a better look at the doors details. Rewoked the door handles and the door's interiors. Also it's my first time building door hinges! Hinges work great, although not permanently attached at this time while there's so much more building to be done . The two small tabs venturing off the side of the door has small magnets to hold the door close. More updates to come! #alien #narcissus #shuttle #nostromo #diorama #scratchbuilding #ripley
Slowly building the beast from Alien: Isolation - 1:18 scale. I'm thinking that the lower half of this beast will have limited articulation because of stability...perhaps not. I haven't decided yet. I don't see a reason for the upper legs to ever straighten vertically. Right now concentrating on the sculpt of the lower legs. I'll cross the articulation concerns when I get to it smile emoticon #alienisolation #alien #Sevastopol #amandaripley #nostromo #xenomorph #creativeassembly
Starting to sculpt the "little beastie" or Chestburster as seen in the motion picture ALIEN(1979). 1:18 scale. What I usually do when working with epoxy (especially with tiny items such as this) is I sculpt the frame or shape only, allowing it to cure, then go back in and add the detailing. What you have here is the frame of the burstser only along with the teeth detail. Next I will flesh the little sucker out.
HA! Reminds me of the space slug from Empire Strikes Back!!!! #alien #chestburster #spaceslug

Paint progress on "The Beast" - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Some quick smartphone shots of the workbench along with some more creative images...nothing as "phallic" as one of my last shots LOL!#alien #nostromo #painting #giger
Sculpt progress on some figures over the long weekend - most of my time was spent building the Sulaco Sleep Chamber but had some time to practice a little LED wiring as well as make some sculpt progress and a handful of ALIEN themed characters. Focusing on the Nostromo space suits and finishing my first version of Lambert. All 1:18 scale. #alien #aliens #nostromo #spacesuits #Moebius #sith_fire30

Build progress of the Narcissus Shuttle - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. So much progress but still only scratched the surface. Worked primarily on the wall panel for "The Stowaway", building the details around the slumbering beast. A mix of scratch building using styrene sheet, sculpting using a two part epoxy and casting replication. Nothing is finalized of course, even the side tanks are held in place using some wax clay...I need to construct t a rack. So much more to go. I may begin building the framework leading to the supply closets and the airlock before moving onto the next project in progress (figure sculpting). Hope you enjoy the progress so far! Sculpt progress on the Alien Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt using Aves FIXIT sculpt from Aves Studio.
This week I worked on the body of the creature, namely the arms (upper and lower) as well as the hips and upper legs.
Plenty of adjustments to be made to the muscular folds and definition through the hips/pelvis. Happy with the proportion of the elongated arms vs. the length of the torso.
Going to work on the hips some more but begin working on the hands and add more definition to the lower arms.
Thanks for taking time to check out my progress! #alien #alienresurrection #newbornalien #sculpting #art #monsters #customactionfigure #miniature #nostromo
Nostromo Main Air Lock 1:18 scale update. ALIEN 1979 - added venting, upper railing and other assorted details.
Anyone know of any detailed images showing the detail existing behind the racks???
More to come! Sorry for the crappy iPhone image.
Paint progress on "The Beast" ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. This is the Juggernaut. You know, the big ship from the movies Alien and Prometheus. Since this thing took up four big bley baseplates, please excuse the poor photo setup.

Nostromo Main Airlock 1:18 scale - Update. Alien 1979. Finished adding detailing! Unfortunately I could only find/make enough parts to fill one side of the chamber. This side will get a mold bath, then once released, a few parts will be removed to fill the other half which will in turn have a mold made. Patched up the holes where the wall racks will fit - for mold purposes. The tubes and straps seen in production images as well as the control consoles seen in the film will be added last before painting. The ceiling of the chamber is being made and will be cast seperately. More to come! Sorry again for the iPhone images #alien #nostromo
See the imperfections? That is intentional...simulation wear and tear from the elements. The signal screen near the entrance will feed off the light coming through this cover.
Completed 1:18 head sculpt/paint app of the Alien in the 1979 Sir Ridley Scott motion picture ALIEN. This will be the first in three seperate head sculpt variations. Some shots I used a bright light to blow through the clouded dome to capture the look underneath. Others I left as is. I can't wait to begin sculpting the body to this guy - the xenomorph bug has bitten me and I want to do more!!! LOL! I'm really enjoying this project! www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYHX8AMKrTA&feature=share&...

Week 2 theme: Empty
02.01.2013
When I was a kid I could beat Super Mario Bros. 2 in less than 13 minutes. I was a boss when it came to Mario. I knew where the warp pipes were and which characters worked best on each level. Mario was easy. When I got my first copy of Contra my brain nearly exploded out of sheer joy, utter amazement, and supreme levels of frustration. It was a life changing event. The game was so insanely difficult that no 6 year old could ever possibly beat it, but it commanded my attention and I sure as hell gave it. From the moment you pressed start and your little 8-bit man began charging across the screen with his little pellet gun there were hoards of exploding men ambushing you from all angles. They shot these bullets that moved so slow you could literally run away from but they came in such quantity that avoiding them was close to impossible. I would run, duck, and do my badass gymnastic-like tumble flip all over the place. Then came dungeon #1. HOLY SHIT! This game wasn't just a side scroller! This game also had levels where you ran away from the screen. My brain at age 6 could not fathom this technology. After the first fortress and the bizarre floating orbs that shoot fireballs were destroyed the game took a turn for the impossible. No longer was I running side to side. No more would I run away from the screen. Now I had jump up from ledge to ledge in a beautiful waterfall canyon to make my way to the second evil fortress which happened to be situated directly above me on a perfectly flat piece of floating grass on the waterfall. Also there were tons of exploding guys and gun turrets that shoot millions of slow bullets. I was 6. I could do anything. The game went on like this for several more levels. The scenery changed from beautiful tropical jungle to a cold, wintery, north Canadian-like hell; then you got dropped in an alien cave filled with spider aliens and creatures similar to those found at Hadley's Hope on LV426. I got it done though. I beat them all and I did it all on foot with nothing but a machine gun with slow bullets and gold medal worthy jump-flip-tumble move. When all the credits rolled and my tumble guy was picked up by the helicopter I almost cried. It had taken me months of repetitive play to learn the games intricacies and now it was over. When the dust from my tantrum had settled I realized the lessons this game had bestowed upon me.
1) Life is valuable. You only get 3 so don't waste them.
2) Guns need to be controlled. When exploding alien-men get their hands on them all hell breaks loose and the smack down needs to be laid. This is done most efficiently with the spread-shot power-up in combination with rapid fire.
3) Men with muscles don't get cold in the north Canadian winter hell as long as they keep moving.
For a few weeks I considered never playing it again. I had already done what no kid on my block had done. I beat Contra. I needed a new challenge. My Nintendo Power came in the mail that day and it delivered some of the most profound news of my life. There was a code. Not just any code but THE code. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select, start. BAM! Suddenly the 6 year old version of me was an unstoppable alien fighting force once again. This time I had 30 lives and conservation mattered not. It was all out war.

First post of 2016 - A shot of the 1:18 scaled Space Jockey sculpt. A piece I thought I'd never have the nerve to take on! And just a few weeks ago this was nothing more than a sketch of the frame work....now here I am, close to completing the first stage of the iconic piece. Thanks for all your support and inspiration this past year! I know this work isn't to many peoples taste, some even say I am wasting my talents on such things....perhaps. But for now, it's what I love to do. I love this hobby, this art. I'd wish for a career doing this if it was possible. I hope for more to offer this coming year. I know I have plenty of painting to do, plenty of things yet to create. Perhaps get back into drawing? ....anyway, I enjoy the work, and it thrills me that some of you find what I do enjoyable. Thanks again! #spacejockey #alien #2016 #happynewyear #art #giger
Sculpt progress on the Space Jockey - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began sculpting the arms of the creature using Aves FIXIT s my sculpting material. Sharp/clean areas will be weathered, softened. The next step will be the shoulders, body and upper back portaion of the chair. Hands will be last before moving on to the rest of the piece. More to come! Figure and diorama updates to come as well - just wanting to get a good chunk of this guy completed. #alien #nostromo #spacejockey #hrgiger #lv426 #derelict #avesfixitsculpt #sculpture #diorama
