It is celebrated the world over and everyone seems to want to be of Irish heritage on the 17th of March. So to all my Flickr Friends, may you have the luck of the Irish and celebrate the day in style. This spot on the fence marked a garden plot in our local garden.🍀
Flickr Friday: Lucky Number
Fun facts:
-Two is the first, lowest, and only even prime number.
-Two is the only number that comes to the same total whether you add it to itself or multiply it by itself.
-Two can also be one, if you are the slightest bit romantic.
-In the exclamation "What the deuce?", the deuce is the devil and not the slang word for two. I used it as a title anyway, though. :)

About
A collegue of mine asked me how to contact Bert Stephani, since he knew this guy 'cause I
once showed him our wedding pictures on flickr, after we had been talking camera-geek stuff,
he is real Nikon adept and I the Canon man and he doesn't understand why a guy like me still
uses that ancient technology: that sort of bullshit, hahaha, don't mind shit like that, keeps
a place alive, we're an odd species right, we need shit to laugh, mmm I'm guessing I going
the wrong way here, just rephrase, here we go ( yeah Paul, I know, need to go to the loony bin,
his has been smoking, yes ! He lives in Holland, no Paul, I'm from Belgium ;-) No prob mate )
The Dutch conquered South-Africa, that's why you are there and I still here since we never
conquered anything ( except for Congo, later named Zaïre, until one smartass wrote that ~very successful~ song and then we named it Congo again..., but who knows that a Belgian dictator slaughtered the masses in Congo ? Who knows that ? Oh, you all do, except most Belgians, except a few like me )
... and I knew and end up shooting this picture with in the house you see (called "Bassin" which is french voor ool ( notice there is no P in it, so let's keep it that way )) Bert Stephani is shooting his wedding and I shoot this shot since I was also invited at that wedding and asked to bring my gear along -which is hard to resist- So I end up doing weddings in HDR ( or at least the surrounding scenery, is that a niche market or what? )
I also end up shooting Bert Stephani on a **insert bad habit here** break ouside in the sunset glow,
yes single shot, no HDR, but am I good enough to cover your complete wedding and how much do you indent to pay for that? Just wondering, I wonder too much, makes me not sleep too much, I wonder why, LOL ;)
You can see Bert Stephani down below, it's not that he never shows his face, there are more than 1 youtube videos to be found featuring him at work.
Free advertisement on it's best dear Bert !-)
So to cut a long stor short ( story lost a y there, whoops !-) ) :
The shot
Standard 3 exposures HDR [-2,0,+2EV] in RAW/ISO100 at f/13 using the Sigma 10-20mm lens on a real bad tripod, never buy this National Geographic Tundra, other National Geographic tripods might be great, but not this one, ok it's light and very fastly deployed and set up from very low 17cm to very high 164cm, the included ball head sucks ( but not in the right places, hahaha ) : it can't bear the weight of my Sigma10-20mm lens, hey that's 80% of my shooting time...
Photomatix
Tonemapped using the detail enhancer, you should know that buy now, but hey !

Music
Do you ever take the time and listen, I mean really listen to something I recommend ?
You just don't like hard music ?
Oh you like Jazz ?
I give plenty of Jazz tips, yes the sexy kind, but hey !
I give almost any kind of music tips, I like diversity, keeps the mind sharp.
I wonder why I can't sleep at night ?-)
The number 17 is often indicated as being a lucky number. While my birthday falls on a 17th, I don't think it has brought me extra luck, but maybe I just don't know. What it means in these skiffs I have no idea.
Well lucky me. Not have I only got a new for me (used camera and lens), I used my lucky coin to scratch off a little winnings on a scratch card. Should be enough to get a nice takeout. And the five’s, well that’s my lucky number :)
Not my lucky number, but I know someone who is obsessed by the number 2 in all forms...and "two little ducks", for the uninitiated, is from the game of bingo; a game where people have to match numbers on a card against numbers on balls disgorged randomly by a machine. The bingo callers have slang for most of the numbers, and "two little ducks" for 22 is one of the most famous. 88 is lucky in China but as that is "two fat ladies" I did not want to cause offence...
If I have one lucky number then I have about half a dozen. If I think of an unlucky number, I'd probably come up with a dozen!
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
this is what's left over of what used to be the board where our previous vice-director made the rosters of all teachers.

I consider ten my lucky number. First of all I was born on October 28th. October is the 10th month and 28 adds up to 10. The initial of my first name is J and that is the 10th letter in the alphabet. Also in my astrological chart my Sun resides in my 10th House. With so many tens in my life it has to be my lucky number.

A few years back I bought a book called Everything is Wrong by Robert Anton Wilson and amongst all the conspiracies and plots that are detailed therein is a section called The 23 Enigma. In biblical parlance, the scales were lifted from my eyes and I started seeing 23’s everywhere. Is this occurrence of 23’s a sign of God as infinite jester? Don't know, but I feel there are enough mathematical, literary and historical occurrences to make one wonder.
