Straying from the path he has sturggled to hold true, Dass Jennir arrives on Telerath. Unbeknownst to Jennir, his destiny with the living force is about to be revealed and his burdened conscience wiped clean....

Dass Jennir is a favorite character of mine from the Star Wars Dark Horse Expanded Universe.

My apologies for taking so long to complete this piece...as with all my work, I never center my full attention on just one project, always a bit at a time, tabling and returning to the subject when the inspiration hits.

This is a 1:18th scale figure - fully articulated with all the basic movements and can be posed in many postions like other factory made figures...mostly when his cowl is removed.

Both figures sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and painted using Floyquil Acrylics.

Two years ago, my nth monitor died on me so I was loaned this monster in a state of emergency. I decided to fulfill my midichlorian destiny and finish TIE Fighter sixteen years after I bought it.

Close to completion to the upper body of the cybernetic reconstruction. The upper chest and back, spinal column and tube placement have been completed - the tubes have been applied for test positioning only and will be removed when sculpting continues. The small circulatory tank just beow the chest has been added for positioning as well and will be attached permanently when sculpting and painting of the primary figure is complete. The head is close to completion but needs additional detail to the sides and back as well as a "vocoder". Will begin work on the lower arms, hands and two circulatory tanks for the figures interior as well as metal rib cage.

Here, I'm building C-3PO at the Presidio offices of Lucasfilm. There are still screws fragments melted into the carpet of this room. Sorry George!

Completed Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as seen in issue #3 of Star Wars Invasion by Dark Horse Comics. Luke is in command of Republic forces sent to the planet Rychel in order to repel the invading forces of the Yuuzhan Vong.

The figure was mostly sculpted in Aves Epoxy FIXIT sculpt using a plastic articulated armature. The forearms and hands have been recasted from original parts. The head originalted from a Legacy Snowspeeder Luke figure, casted in wax and completly retooled and refined adding additional markings to the face, age lines, a lower brow, hair and ears...I also strengthened the jaw. The figure measures 3.75" in height. Painted using Floyquil Acrylics by testors.

In 2001, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was released in Japan for the Game Boy Advance and achieved significant popularity. In 2005, it was re-released worldwide on the Nintendo DS, becoming an instant hit and spawning a pair of spinoff games. While not a classic Sierra or LucasArts style adventure game, the series borrows heavily from the basic ideas behind the genre.

Quantic Dream had their own concept of a modern adventure game. In 2005, they released Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America), an action thriller game with adventure foundations. In 2010 they followed up with Heavy Rain, an atmospheric noir thriller that received significant critical acclaim.

Telltale Games secured the rights to Lucasfilm's classic Sam and Max adventure game series in 2006. They released a new episodic series, starting in late 2006 and continuing through 2007. Responses were generally, though not universally, positive, and the game was a commercial success.

Telltale began work on a second Sam and Max adventure game series. After its release, they followed up with an adventure series based on the Homestar Runner franchise, then another based on Aardman Animation's Wallace and Gromit. Telltale also secured the classic Monkey Island franchise for yet another episodic series. The resurgence of interest encouraged LucasArts to re-release its classic adventure games on modern distribution networks.

Adventure games have also regained popularity in the indie scene, although few have received significant press. Gemini Rue is a recent award-winning noir adventure game by Wadjet Eye Games, a studio responsible for several other excellent adventure games. The Chzo Mythos is a horror series released by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, and created with Adventure Game Studio (AGS), a free development tool for making interactive fiction. Another tool popular with hobbyists is the Text Adventure Development System (TADS). Although the industry as a whole seems hesitant to embrace the adventure game, good games are still being produced.

The Letterman Digital Arts Center (LDAC), located in the Presidio, has been the combined home of Industrial Light & Magic, LucasArts, and Lucasfilm Limited since June 25, 2005. The $350-million, 850,000-square-foot center sits on a 23-acre lot and is home to 1500 employees. The grounds were designed by landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, who also restored San Francisco's Ghirardelli Square. The design architect for the buildings was Gensler, and architect of record was HKS, Inc. The lobby of Building B is open to the public during regular business hours and contains a gallery of Lucasfilm memorabilia.

FInally after many delays and adjustments, Shado Vao is being primed for painting. Had to make hip adjustments which meant a complete resculpt of the lower abdomen and part of the upper legs. Also adjusted the sculpted fabric around the belt.

My 1:18 scale, 4.5" tall Furlag sculpt is complete. The head is a completly original sculpt. The figures body is also original and is sculpted over a custom created, articluated frame. I used Aves FIXIT for the sculpt and casted the head in plastic. Furlag has 14 points of articulation. Hand painted using Testors Polyscale (Floquil) acrylic paints. A very unique species in the Star Wars universe...

From Wookipedia - "Furlag was a small-time bounty hunter with large, batlike ears. Operating during the height of the Galactic Empire, he was not well-known, but often worked with other prominent bounty hunters, such as Zuckuss and 4-LOM. He, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM were subcontracted by fellow hunter Skorr on Ord Mantell during the early Galactic Civil War in the hunt for a group of prospective Rebels, then again later with 4-LOM and Zuckuss as well as several other bounty hunters including the Trandoshan Bossk to attempt to pry Han Solo's carbonite-encased body from Boba Fett."

Unfortunately Furlag underestimated Boba Fett and met his end being sucked through and open airlock shaft into deep space.

From the Dark Horse comic series Knights of the Old Republic, written by John Jackson Miller, comes my completed Zayne Carrick as he appeared in part four of Commencement.

Big, heavy and well worn, Zayne's suit has been sculpted and painted to appears to be a mix of woven material, leather and a lightweight metal alloy which includes a working removable helmet and PlSS (Primary Life-Support Subsystem) backpack.

Today was another rough Friday. I had to say goodbye to many friends from ILM, and LucasArts that were kind enough to visit a makshift studio for a quick portrait before they left the building. I can't thank you all enough for being so patient, and for allowing me to capture your portraits today. It was so great getting to know the LucasArts family that I've never met before, and see some ILM faces that I've not seen in years. For those of you that are leaving, you will be missed, and I hope to some day work along side you again!

This will be the growing collection of portraits from both LucasArts, and ILM, and all of the amazingly talented people that were under the roof of LDAC.

After an update with the articulation, I decided to scrap the entire sculpt and start from scratch. Just wasn't happy with the helmet and the body was too "thick" like he was wearing winter gear HAHA!

The image you see is a new version, complete with a newly sculpted helmet and articluated body frame. The sculpt is far from being completed but I'm happy so far with it's proportion and stability. I have him in a "lunged" pose to show off some of the articulation points.

Here are some shots with Jennir's Bearded head sculpt - a seperate cowl piece was sculpted and fit to give the appearance that hood was lowered around the shoulders. The hat has a clear band that goes around the neck under this seperate piece which hides it. Then the head is attached.

Upper body sculpt is close to completion - working on the back and additional detailing to the body straps and lightsabers. The sabers are made up from existing sabers, cut up and glued together to resemble the ones used in the trailers. I've made molds to produce casts. Once the casts are made, I will add the wrap detail using real cloth. The sabers are held to the chest by two thin, clear rubber loops...tried clips but were too big and looked obvious. The bands may be seen but can easily be ignored.

Gabriel Knight 3:

Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned, was the final game of the Gabriel Knight series and also the last adventure game published by Sierra-On-Line. The first in the Gabriel Knight series in full 3-D, the game used a custom engine called the G-Engine. Development of this engine delayed the release for more than a year. The cost of filming and voice actors turned out to be higher than expected, and the game ran a million dollars over the projected three million dollar budget.

Sam and Max:

Sam and Max is a multi-media franchise that debuted as a comic strip in 1980, saw publication as a comic book in 1987, was released as a LucasArts game, Sam & Max Hit the Road, in 1993, and became a television cartoon series on Fox in 1997.

The comic was originally created by Dave Purcell, who eventually sold the rights to his older brother, Steve Purcell, who, as a student at California College of Arts and Crafts, had the strip run in the weekly school paper.

The license for the franchise moved to Telltale Games after the LucasArts license expired in 2005. Telltale releases episodes of each game on a regular schedule, with each game comprising five or six episodes.

Inspired by issue number 17 of the Dark Horse comic series Star Wars: Dark Times is an alternate head sculpt of my upcoming, completed Dass Jennir. This alternate sculpt depicts Dass after a period of convalescing from a brutal attack that left him close to death. His hair has been cut, his beard shaven clean...the wounds from the past beating still show prominently. Embracing who he truley is, a Jedi, he goes to face the ones that came close to destroying him and freeing those under their oppression.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed

I'm not saying it's an exemplary game, it's rife with issues that most junior designers with less than half a hangover could have spotted and rectified. However, Force Unleashed is a fun game, a gratuitously gratifying game, and one hell of an apology for all the things wrong with the last three episodes and that marionettes on parade 3D dead cash cow hump recently flailing around the box offices. It's unfortunate Lucas can't be voted out based on lack of confidence, because this game does prove that given to the right people for not the first time, a Star Wars yarn doesn't have to suck, conflict with it's own continuity, or place marketing over substance.

In addition to this nice sight gag, got a kick out of spotting the Millennium Falcon a couple times on the junk planet. I like the character designs, except for the gone-tribal Wookies from the prequels. Classic Chewie FTW, the rest can go become coats for all I care. Still haven't figured out how to punt jawas, but my pal Raine swears you can.

Issues with the game manifest most in the boss fights, which have absurd difficulty spikes alternating with brain numbing tedium, depending on the boss instantiation. Currently trying to keep my eyes open during a missed opportunity for massive gratuity turned instead into an unpolished and dishearteningly lame attempt at demonstrating your mighty force powers downing a star destroyer through an experience that breaks camera precedence, castrates your already flakey force focus, and introduces uses for the analogue sticks that is sort of like Battle Zone except for the twitchy fun parts, which would be missing here.

Basically, if you can lose a boss battle because you're stuck in collision with your camera clipping through your avatar's rump shake while a bull Rancor shows you all the tricks he learned from Riddick on a prison planet somewhere, there is something unfinished about the mission. Other words, if you die because you lack the skills, you'll try again; if you die because layoffs at LucasArts prevented adequate quality testing and designer tuning / polish on boss battles, you toss the controller, take a breather, and maybe try again after a while because you really would like to learn how to punt a jawa finally.

Also, I think a real opportunity was missed not including Admiral Thrawn somewhere in this as a cameo. Considering how the sport hunter commander we do get to kill, sort of, sported adornments derived from Thrawn's limited wardrobe, I think a mission acknowledging one of the few non-Eurotrash members of the Imperial command structure would have been a great seed to plant for subsequent product, like Star Wars: When Good Jedis Go Bad or SW: Bounty Hunter Boogie.

The fact that I bothered to write, AND spell check, this rant is ample demonstration of just how Dark Side geek I actually am. Blue suited hazard trooper turned cyborg Bounty Hunter for the win. And don't forget the green rabbit and porcupine lady, either. Now I'd buy THAT for a dollar!
