Zapata Falls area near the The Great Sand Dunes. Droves of people prevented us from getting to the actual falls. Thats OK, because there was a lot of beuty all around.

This neighborhood is a treasure box of amazing architectural statements; here and Chicago were truly the wombs of the skyscraper. And it's incredible that all this stands on a horizontal framework of colonial streets intended for horse and wood framed houses.

There are two points where you have to be lowered from the platform to the ground level. One of these is at the end, the other is at an intermediate point. It's probably better to look up rather than down.
Located in a separate section of the park this was a really easy trail down to the largest falls in the park. It is a pretty cool place. The falls empty into a tranquil pool before spilling over a set of rocks and on down some more. Would be an awesome swimming area in the summer and it probably is!
