Where the original (Alexander Selkirk) Robinson Crusoe was born. Hmm, but probably not in this pub :-) Still lovely place to sit in the sun and have fish, chips and a beer!

I've watched this palm full of bees across the wall in my neighbor's yard for over a week. I'd love to get closer, but I can only shoot with telephoto, as they are high up, and behind a wall. I feel fortunate for being able to watch this. Check out the bee on the lower right, and you can see the nectar it has gathered.
With all the terrible news about dwindling bee populations this sight is awesome. I've seen many many buzzers up here!
My grandfather kept bees, even building a 5-foot tall beehive from a hollowed-out log! He taught me, if stung, to "scrape" the stinger out of your skin; if you grabbed it between fingers or tweezers, it would act like a syringe, injecting even more of the bee's poison! Scraping using a fingernail, credit card, etc. makes for a lot less swelling and pain.
