Before dawn finds the courage to reveal itself,
the city remains still, listening.
The stones hold the breath of the night,
the lights stand guard as the last witnesses of darkness.
I walk low, close to the ground,
to feel the weight of time beneath my steps.
In this passage, between shadow and light,
silence is not absence:
it is waiting.
You are looking at the business-end of the Canon RC-5 IR remote which requires a 2-second wait after you push the button until it trips the shutter. What a slo-mo pain! Fortunately there are better options!

Stress rans like a plague in New York City. New Yorkers walk around like zombies on high octane caffeine. Everyone appears to be stressed. I wonder if they see it too every morning in the mirror. I see them everywhere but the place to observe is in the subway trains. Interesting stoic faces. Paradoxically, I found the New Yorkers quite helpful when you ask for help in getting directions. They want their own space but most are willing to help.
Meanwhile, it started to rain, and she didn’t bring an umbrella. She’s afraid her groceries will get wet. Moreover, she worried about her eye shadow make-up getting messed up.

Yes I was laying down on my belly in the snow to get this shot. Not the sharpest of shots as there was weeds between me and this snowy and was hard to focus. Should of used manual focus, but I loved the moment. He just kept looking at me probably thinking "what the,,,?".
This photo ended up being "Michigan in Pictures" photo of the day.....
When capturing this iconic tower from a low angle, I sought to transcend mere architectural documentation to create a powerful graphic presence. What first drew me to this structure was how its checkered pattern creates a hypnotic visual vibration that seems to animate the rigid surface of the building.
I deliberately chose to work the image with a unified dark background, although photographed in daylight, then processed it in black and white to amplify the dramatic contrast between the structure and the space surrounding it. This minimalist approach transforms the building into an abstract entity, a geometric monolith that stands out forcefully from its environment.
The subtle gradation of light in the upper left corner brings an additional dimension to the composition, creating a visual tension that guides the eye. The reflective horizontal bands that encircle the structure create visual breathing spaces that rhythm the ascending gaze and reveal the presence of natural light.
Through this image, I wanted to capture not only the architectural boldness of this tower, but also transform it into a pure graphic study where form, pattern and light dialogue with each other. This deliberate decontextualization invites the viewer to rediscover architecture as an abstract sculptural form, detached from its function to become a purely visual and aesthetic experience.

VIEW ON BLACK! :-)
I found this dead tree on a walk around Alton Water and was just taking record shots for a return visit when a very brief burst of light on a cloudy day suddenly lifted the tree from the dark sky. My obsession with trees continues - I really must do a book one day! 3 image pano handheld.

Two consecutive cat shots; that has to be a first for me. But how could I pass up the chance of grabbing a shot of this fella?
Down in Tsukishima today giving Lucy a lesson, in which we were working on the 'leading the eye with colour' project. Some great material for that and then in one of the little back-alleys we spied this chap sunning himself.
This wasn't for the project, but here it is should you be interested in having a go.
