in the background, the humans blur into soft shapes of color and light. they are the temporary occupants of the city, always coming and going. in the foreground, the true resident walks with purpose. a pigeon, a creature of asphalt and concrete. it drinks from a shallow puddle, its feet reflected in the dirty water. it is not beautiful or exotic. it is simply there. it owns the ground it walks on. it is a small, gray, overlooked fact of the city's life.
Artificially formed during the construction of the Queen's Drive, this resevoir is home to many varieties of wildfowl including greylag geese, mute swans, mallard/tufted duck, coots and pochard.
The field was too wet for lacrosse practice, but apparently just right for the geese. Hopefully things will dry out before Saturday's game.

It looks like the entire country is in a deep freeze this weekend.
So whatever hot meal you have in your bowls, be it soup, oatmeal, rice, stew, chili, or mac 'n cheese, stay warm this weekend.

Last Saturday morning, I took Mum for a drive to a bluebell wood. I'd seen these bluebells a few days before and I wanted to get back in good daylight before they'd be past their best. Such a beautiful place and the name is Carn Daisy Glen, how sweet is that?? :)
My time on flickr is limited these days. I seem to found myself a few new distractions, but I appreciate all of you who've stopped by to view my photographs and left such wonderful and generous comments :)
I hope all of you are well and I'm sorry I'm not getting time to see your work at the minute. I shall try and catch up in time :)
Take care everyone and have a wonderful weekend :) :) :)
Leaving Paris, we drove about two hours into the French countryside where this castle was one of the many delights that greeted us in this beautiful part of the country.
Construction began in 1519 as King Francis I was in need of a hunting lodge. Yes, a lodge. Imagine if he needed a new castle!
One of the many stone stacks that appear occassionally in Pucks Glen. This one was unusual in its location (bit a climb down to get to it) and its shape (the first I've seen of this style).
A tight crop of this Northern Water snake. Wildwood Lake, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

2/3 Theme DAWN
January 2011 I actually got up early in the morning and took this shot walking up Wildwood in my neighborhood. Not sure if I can get up in time for an early morning shot so I decided to pull this from the archives.
Last year this shot made it to Front Page Explore. This year I think I will enter it in the Ventura County Fair
