Stopped by a convenience store to sit and get a bit of work done. A big yellow dog was fast asleep on the floor. The university students right beside him were deep in a lively discussion, and it didn't bother him one bit.

A weathered mooring rope leads the eye toward a silent fleet resting along the Danube at the Pilismarót ship graveyard. Captured from a low perspective with the Olympus Stylus TG-870, the image contrasts rough textures, calm reflections, and dramatic summer clouds, revealing the quiet atmosphere of one of Hungary's most distinctive riverside locations.

This is the Laboratory of Anthropology (part of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture / Museum of New Mexico complex) located on Museum Hill in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
It was designed by John Gaw Meem (1894–1983), widely regarded as one of the most influential architects in the American Southwest and a primary developer of the Pueblo Revival style.
Architectural Description
Style: Outstanding example of Spanish-Pueblo Revival architecture, which blends elements of traditional Puebloan design and Spanish Colonial mission styles.
Facade & Buttresses: The dramatic entrance is flanked by two massive, sloping adobe-plastered buttresses designed to mimic traditional historic mission churches and multi-story pueblo structures.
Structural Details: Features heavy wooden lintels above doors and windows, exposed projecting wooden ceiling beams (vigas), deeply recessed multi-pane windows, and carved wooden double doors.
Finish & Color: Earth-toned stucco with organic, gently rounded corners that emulate hand-plastered adobe craftsmanship.
History of the Laboratory of Anthropology
Founded in 1927 with significant backing from philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr., the Laboratory of Anthropology was established as an independent research institution dedicated to preserving, studying, and celebrating Southwestern Indigenous and Hispanic cultural traditions.
The Design Competition (1930): Architect John Gaw Meem won a national design competition to plan the original campus, including the laboratory building and the nearby Director's Residence.
Opening (1931): Completed in 1931, the building served as a central hub for field researchers, archaeologists, and anthropologists throughout the American Southwest.
Merger & Evolution: In 1947, the Laboratory merged with the Museum of New Mexico system. Today, it remains an integral component of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on Museum Hill, housing expansive research collections, archives, and administrative facilities.
Oeuvre of John Gaw Meem (1894–1983)
John Gaw Meem is widely acknowledged as the "father" of Spanish-Pueblo Revival architecture and a central figure in defining the visual identity of Santa Fe.
Background: Trained originally as a civil engineer at VMI, Meem moved to Santa Fe in 1920 to recover from tuberculosis at the Sunmount Sanatorium. Captivated by the regional historic architecture, he pivoted to design and preservation.
Architectural Legacy:
Pueblo Revival Style: Championed organic adobe-like forms, earth tones, heavy exposed timber (vigas and corbels), flat roofs, and stepped massing inspired by ancient Southwestern pueblos.
Territorial Revival Style: Pioneered the integration of 19th-century Greek Revival details—such as brick cornices, trim pediments, and symmetrical window placements—with traditional Southwestern earthen forms.

A striking low-angle perspective capturing the massive scale of urban development. A towering red and yellow construction crane reaches up toward a moody, overcast sky, sharply juxtaposed against the heavy, brutalist texture of a massive concrete overpass on the right. This dramatic framing highlights the relentless pace of infrastructure growth and the towering giants of concrete and steel shaping the city's future.
Port Quin is a small cove and hamlet close to Port Isaac at the Cornish coast. In medieval times, the harbour was used by boats to sail to Wales for trading. Nowadays, the village is mostly abandonded and the harbour is maintained by the National Trust. It was a breezy and crisp day on our visit but we enjoyed the quick stop.
A shot of Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland, looking across Embleton Bay, early morning after sunrise. I needed to get the camera very low in order to get the reflection, which required inverting the Center column of the tripod and having the camera virtually touching the water.
On a quiet stretch of northern asphalt, a new generation takes its first collective steps. Guided by the steady silhouette of their mother, the tiny poults march in a soft line of determination, charting a brave new path through the wild green of New Brunswick.
This historic building can be found at Exeter Quay side. Built in 1680 it handled the trade along the River Exe and is now a visitor centre. It apparently is the oldest brick building to survive in Exeter. The canons in the front are popular with the kids. There's some yummy ice cream just opposite this building from where I was taking the photo (Salted caramel and chocolate are the favourites!).

Low-angle view of the "Viva México" IMOCA-class racing yacht, part of The Ocean Race fleet, resting in dry dock against a vivid blue sky with dramatic clouds. I liked how the scale of the tall mast with the rigging – and red, white, and dark blue livery of the sleek hull – captured the technical elegance of offshore ocean racing sailboats.

We eventually made our way round to The Shambles, for another fairly classic view. Although the scene looks tranquil, it was in fact very busy and we had to be quick to grab shots in between the many groups partaking in “Ghost Walk” tours.
For this shot I just placed the camera directly onto the street surface as I wanted a very low angle, in part to hide some crowds at the other end of the street. I also did a simple focus stack due to the wide aperture.

Tower bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in central London. The bridge is built over the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London. The bridge's present color red, white and blue was painted for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee. The tower, with ornate Victorian Gothic style, stands tall against cloudy sky. It makes the bridge a distinctive landmark. The dark steel suspension chain and steel hangers look beautiful with the towers!

This section of the building is wild in that its actually being supported by trusses above so that it can sit over the Metra tracks.
The young birch bolete found in the forest :)
The birch bolete (Leccinum scabrum), commonly known also as the rough-stemmed bolete or scaber stalk, is an edible mushroom in the family Boletaceae. The birch bolete is widespread in Europe, in the Himalayas in Asia, and elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring only in mycorrhizal association with birch trees. It fruits from June to October. This mushroom is also becoming increasingly common in Australia and New Zealand where it is likely introduced. Leccinum scabrum is found in mycorrhiza with birch trees. The birch bolete is edible and is especially enjoyable pickled in brine or vinegar. It is used also in mixed mushroom dishes, fried or steamed.

Młody koźlarek wypatrzony w lesie :)
Koźlarz babka (Leccinum scabrum) – gatunek grzybów z rodziny borowikowatych. Występuje na całej półkuli północnej. Na Półwyspie Skandynawskim sięga po 66o szerokości geograficznej. Na półkuli południowej podano jego występowanie tylko w Australii i Nowej Zelandii. W Europie Środkowej jest pospolity. Również w Polsce występuje pospolicie od lata do jesieni. Rośnie na ziemi, w liściastych oraz mieszanych, często także poza lasem. Rośnie wyłącznie pod brzozami, tworzy bowiem z nimi mikoryzę.
