“Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird,
That cannot fly.”
― Langston Hughes.
Yesterday was a gorgeous day with wondrous sky and a dreamy sunset. I captured this from the roof of my apartment in Karachi, Pakistan.
While I was in South America, my mom had a stroke....as a result she had lost function of her left hand and had general weakness on her left side. She's been in a rehab facility for the past couple of weeks doing physical therapy and has made great progress regaining some of the use of her hand. (we are hopeful more is to come)
Today she was discharged and was able to come home. At this stage we have a full time caregiver living in the house named Peggy....she is a sweetheart and made us a big vat of banana pudding for dessert tonight. As you can see from the photo, Mom is very happy to be back in her own house... and I'm so very happy to see her sitting in her fave chair once again.
I've been a busy bee, getting Peggy settled into their routine and arranging for some minor home renovations...Tom and V have both been battling the flu this week, so I arrived just in time to relieve them...

Another illustration of a short story I wrote 21 years ago... more about the grotesque, a dull life and the universe.
(Ballpoint pen on notebook paper, 1990 ?)
First one I thought of. Being a mom to her is the best thing to happen in my life. More love than I can say.
One of the legends associated with this hotel is that Agatha Christie wrote "Murder on the Orient Express" in room 411 at this hotel. Another famous guest was Mustapha Kemel Ataturk, the founder of modern-day Turkey.
