My mother came to visit yesterday. She lives an hour away on Lake Travis, near Austin. She stayed all day cleaning and cooking, and then went grocery shopping and stayed for dinner and even cleaned the kitchen with us. She will be 75 years old this November 11th. I only hope to have as much energy and look as good as she does anytime between now and when I'm 75. She has more energy than any of us! (Meaning me and the kids). You rock Mom!! I love you!
This is Karlene and Mason kissing her goodbye in the driveway last night.
the boy had a snow day (it didn't snow; the husband got a noon start because of ice!), so we spent the morning painting Valentines for his classmates. Afterward, I grabbed a blank sheet and started with lines. He added hearts. I wrote "love" in cursive, so he wrote it twice in his adorable handwriting. He outlined my hearts, I outlined his. It was a collaboration of the best kind.
I wish I were with you, I couldn't stay
Every direction leads me away
Pray for tomorrow, but for today
All I want is to be home
Stand in the mirror, you look the same
Just looking for shelter, from the cold and the pain
Someone to cover, safe from the rain
All I want is to be home
Echoes and silence, patience and grace
All of these moments I'll never replace
Fear of my heart, absence of faith
All I want is to be home
All I want is to be home
People I've loved, I have no regrets
Some I remember, some I forget
Some of them living, some of them dead
All I want is to be home

WOW! Enjoyed the 1st dance of the year!
I must say this past year 2008 is unlike previous ones. It has been a very exciting year to some, extremely challenging time for others and it is behind us. Yet, too many things happened on many levels globally. Moreover, I am still counting blessings - especially the people near and far away that God has surrounded me with ~ especially you.
Today I take time out to thank people who have touched my life and to wish you my friends HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009! I wish you could spend more time with your family & friends to enjoy this time of year.
Bonne et heureuse année 2009 à vous mes amis! Meilleur voeux de santé, joie, bonheur et prospérité.
新年 2009 快樂!
God bless you!
LOVE from TAIWAN!
Romans 11:36 - For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
In truth everything and everyone
Is a shadow of the Beloved,
And our seeking is His seeking
And our words are His words...
We search for Him here and there,
while looking right at Him.

This is just to thank you so much all of you guys for such a warm welcoming.

This family home was built in 1961. The original owners and subsequent owners made significant alterations over the first 10 years: a large rumpus room was built under the house, which was connected to upstairs by the construction and installation of a beautiful spiral staircase and the rear land was landscaped with two terraces held by two cinder retaining walls.
In 1972 its ownership changed again. Now a family of three children grew up here, and a bedroom extention was needed. Landscaping was done including hanging gardens near the front entrance to the home, an above-ground swimming pool in the back garden became a playground for children of the street. Trees were planted and the character of the neighbourhood changed as a result.
When the owners were transferred to another city, the son of the family remained in the home together with some other young mates, until he was married and then for another 6 years it was his first matrimonial home. He updated the kitchen, while maintaining the home. When he built his own home a few suburbs away, a series of families lived here as tenants for short terms. Next a daughter, who had grownup here, and her husband and family moved to Brisbane for further study and it became their home for three years, as their young sons grew.
Just as the owners retired to this home in 2011, God had a fresh idea for its occupancy.
The retired couple were to take responsibility for the husband's widowed mother, and so moved to build their retirement home nextdoor to her home in a rural community. And just as that changed future arose, a homeless family appealed to live here. So for the next 12 years an immigrant family including 4 children thrived here. Their youngest, a 6 year old when she arrived, had turned 18 and it was time for the family to become fully independent and "fly".
They did, and then it was time to sell, after 53 years of ownership.
For all who have lived here, it was a place of joy, convenience and blessing. A much loved home that will delight the new owners. Here, they will raise their children now, and continue the tradition of updating and modernising this loved home.

This is just a re-edit of a photo I've already uploaded. I think it's a little overdone but I uploaded it anyways. I guess I'm just feeling a little nostalgic. I can't wait to go back to Italy, I miss my family :(
I had always wished this film had come out clearer, but now I've really come to love the texture-y feel that just kind of happened.
EXPLORED!!!
Very less love spread these days...Everywhere we see is war, hatred, jealousy, blaahhhhh
I think the only solution to this is...LOVE
Lets spread it...It can be in various forms...Affection...Care...Appreciation...even a simple SMILE...
Straight outta the cam
HBW everyone...My favourite days :)
...my little home. :) This is a section of one wall.
You can imagine how much pleasure those fairy lights give me.
My uploads have been so random tonight, trying to catch up - it's been too long. Once I finished the wedding pictures (the digital ones at least); I went on a mission to do some photos I've taken in the last couple of weeks. Amazing how many pictures you can do in a day.

Today I just had to get outside and enjoy my new horse. Yes even a horse was on sale today! I know heels aren’t exactly the best for walking around a meadow but they were just too cute to pass up on today too.

If you want to see how I made this (and how you can too!), visit my HDR Tutorial. I hope it gives you some new tricks!
When dad is a photographer, then there is a major degree of pressure to deliver photos on all the requisite holidays and celebrations! So, I decided to try to re-invent the family Christmas photo with HDR. Please note that many of my inventions go down in flames, but, as Winston Churchill said, “success is the ability to go from one failure to the next with no loss of enthusiasm”.
Christmas scenes have a lot of light levels. The lights on the tree, the deep greens withn the branches, a roaring fire, lights in the room, reflections off the ornaments, and the like. It’s wild! I’m pretty sure this is why people like Christmas scenes so much - a wonderful treat for the eyes that is rich in texture and rich in light. Traditionally, it’s been very difficult to capture so much richness in a single photo, saving a lucky and heroic combination of shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and lenses.
The tree lights made the faces of my three stunt-children (who are also my real children) glow perfectly. No flash could have achieved this, unless you are the kind of Rambo-flash guy that would go bury one inside the tree to hit their faces from the left. But, let’s face it. That’s hard.
This was a 5-exposure HDR. You will notice that I often use 5 exposures, but note I could have done it with 3 exposures at -2, 0, and +2. Some silly Nikon cameras, like the D3X I use, will not let you step by twos, so I had to take 5 at -2, -1, 0, +1, and +2. The middle exposure, from which the kid’s faces were masked in and perfectly lit, was shot at f/4 aperture, shutter speed of 1/250, 100 ISO, and at 28mm.
