87016, 'Sir Francis Drake', has been put into the up loop at Beattock whilst working a Glasgow Central to London Euston express service for some reason. We were also stopped on a northbound service at this location. A southbound service, hauled by a class 47 had caught fire descending Beattock about a mile north of where we were. When we passed the Fire Service had arrived to check that the fire had been put out.

Note at this time evidence of the transition of the livery from Blue / Grey to the Intercity Executive livery.

Four different birds, not a composite shot. It’s the real deal… one split moment in time all in a single shot.

My Loop March Spontaneous Skinning Batt spun up in a skein. Lots of little glitzy bits, purples and browns and rich autumnal colors... with lots of sparkly bits! So nice, 180 yards.

The Loop is the central business district of Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the city's 77 designated community areas. The Loop is home to Chicago's commercial core, City Hall, and the seat of Cook County. The community area is bounded on the west and north by the Chicago River, on the east by Lake Michigan, and on the south by Roosevelt Road, although the commercial core has expanded into adjacent community areas. As a business center, the Loop hosts the Chicago Board of Trade at the foot of LaSalle Street, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The Loop is home to Grant Park, the State Street shopping district, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Other major cultural institutions that call this area home include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Goodman Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet, the central public Harold Washington Library, and the Chicago Cultural Center.

Late snow storm on the Alpine Loop in American Fork Canyon, Utah from 6-17-2014. The storm dropped between 3-4 inches of very heavy wet snow breaking branches off of many of the leaf covered trees. This is from around 7500 ft. The highest point on the road is just over 8000 ft.

Life is on a madman's loop-de-loop lately, which is much better than a loup de garou, since I'm not keen on being eaten by werewolves.

This is not a picture of werewolves, but it is a picture of a loop. Yesterday, it was raining and misting just so--everything sparkled with teeny little orbs and droplets.

From Wikipedia:

Gaztelugatxe is an islet on the coast of Biscay belonging to the municipality of Bermeo, Basque Country (Spain). It is connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge. On top of the island stands a hermitage (named Gaztelugatxeko Doniene in Basque; San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Spanish), dedicated to John the Baptist, that dates from the 10th century, although discoveries indicate that the date might be the 9th century.

The hermitage is accessed by a narrow path, crossing the solid stone bridge, and going up 231 steps. According to legend, after the slightly strenuous climb to the top of the crag one should ring the bell three times and make a wish.
