Not to everyone's taste but I think I think its a great place to visit!
Reaching the second saddle was pretty special. This was the first time we could see down the other side of the ridge toward Mt Cook Village and the glacial lake where we had started out on this adventure (Lower right of photo). It was also a place where we could look back down over all the rocky peaks that had surrounded us while in the Gorilla Stream (The valley dead centre). We had indeed made quite a climb to this point but we were not finished with it yet!
The wind seemed to have eased off somewhat and the skies were clear. It was perfect weather. Our agreed turn around time had come and gone but with the summit so close we all agreed to continue on. Going on past our turn around time meant that we were likely to be walking out from camp in the dark; And the darkness comes late here.
But for now we turned around and faced the summit once more. It seemed so close and opportunities like this don't come our way too often. Once a year in fact! So while it was a great view from here we couldn't linger all that long for even greater views awaited!

A Golden Clockwork of Impermanent Silhouette
What do you see in a sunset?
Metamodernist art by JJFBbennett
The neat, symmetrical rows of the cabin provided a brief sanctuary—a manufactured illusion of control. Beyond the glass, the landscape blurred into a predictable hum of gravity and linear geography, the very architecture we build to mark where the self ends and the raw universe begins.
Then, the acceleration shifted from the tracks to the mind.
The rigid symmetry fractured. Looking out, or perhaps looking inward, I saw the horizon collapse into the golden light. The human form ceased to be a solid permanence and revealed itself as a luminous, intricate lattice—a cosmic mechanism of ticking gears and radiant energy suspended against a bruised and burning sky.
What we call the self is merely a temporary alignment, a fleeting, symmetrical arrangement of molecules and conditioned thought. Like a sunset caught in the teeth of golden cogs, we are fluid, transient, and perpetually dissolving. In this collision of light and shadow, the comforting architecture of the past shattered, leaving no boundary between the observer and the infinite expanse. The illusion of control washed away, replaced by the beautiful, terrifying truth of our own impermanence.

Looking Toward Skye” — View over a mountain loch toward the Isle of Skye, seen from the road to Applecross Pass.
While Scotland’s Isle of Skye is, with great reason, a very popular place, you can find great views of the Isle along the less-populated western coast. After our visit to Skye we headed further north to Ullapool, and from there did a long driving loop out to the village of Applecross. Before turning south toward that spot the route hugged the coastline, offering continuous views across the water to various islands including Sky.
After a quick visit to Applecross, we started our return to Ullapool with the ascent to Applecross Pass. Most of our drives in Scotland followed valleys between the tall mountains, but this route climbs right up into the rocky, spare mountain landscape, dotted with small lochs. We paused here to admire the distant view toward Skye, set against the rugged nearby landscape and a single loch.

A hint of Rembrandt van Rijn in this by NightCafe Artificial Intelligence "Made in Alberta" portrait, as I typed the Text-Prompts from my computer here. 😄
Things are likely to become yet more complex as use of artificial intelligence by artists becomes more widespread, and as the machines get better at producing creative works, further blurring the distinction between artwork that is made by a human and that made by a computer.
