Bradgate House Chapel, Newton Linford, Leicestershire

The private chapel of the Grey family, Earls of Stamford, whose most famous member was Lady Jane Grey, the teenage Nine Days Queen of the 1550s.

Construction of the House began in 1499, and was completed by 1520. The house was abandoned in 1739 when the family settled at their other home in Staffordshire. Ironically, such an early date for abandonment meant that the house was then managed as a picturesque ruin, as was the fashion of the day.

The only surviving complete building is the chapel, where members of the Grey family sleep soundly and wait for the Day of Judgement. The most dramatic feature of the chapel is the early 17th Century alabaster memorial to Sir Henry and Lady Anne Grey, in which they lie life-size on a slightly wonky bed behind modern railings.

These photographs were taken in the dying days of my Sony Xperia Z5 cameraphone, which was replaced by an XZ Premium a couple of days later.

Last weekend I went camping in North Carolina, and went out to Looking Glass Falls to do some long exposures. It didn't turn out the greatest, but I thought I would still share.

This was around a 5 minute exposure, with some light painting for around a minute.

Holy Cross, Bury, Cambridgeshire

Ramsey is a small town, barely 6,000 people, but it is big enough to have two southern suburbs, Bury and Upwood, both parishes with medieval churches.

Holy Cross, Bury is a pretty church, mostly in stone, in a dramatic setting on a hill top looking back towards the town centre. It was a small Norman church, augmented massively in the 15th Century when a west tower was built first and then transepts were added to the tower and a chapel of the Blessed Virgin added to the west side of the tower. These have since been demolished, as has the later roofline of a lean-to building, perhaps a school, giving the west end rather a battered appearance which only adds to the drama. Inside is a simple, rustic church with brick floors and medieval benches. There is no coloured glass, so everything is simple and prayerful. The star is a medieval lectern with intricate carving, including a green man, and sound holes in the side. A lovely little church, my church of the day so far and, given that this is clearly an evangelical congregation, they should be praised for keeping it open to visitors.

Everyone around her, she will have different expressions appear. Why?Because everyone is different ,"Suspect" this means, but also have different levels.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ordinarily, one should look forward, where s/he is headed, not back. But then again, sometimes it pays to look "back" at where you've been.

This was the incredible view that greeted us when we looked up to the sky above our campsite at Lane Poole Reserve. The trees are red because of the hot coals that lasted from the fire we had on the night of the picture. It was surprising to see just how much of the light was picked up by the camera.

A tire blew out at night. The car stood in the middle of the black nothing. Something had to be done immediately. Bart took up an observation post at the top of the nearest hill, and kept a sharp eye on the surroundings. The Troubles could appear at any moment, and then there was only one hope for the trusty slingshot. Maggie climbed to the roof of the car and from there helped her brother as best she could. Marge looked in the trunk for a pump for the spare tire. Lisa went to the hood and worked on the engine. Homer sighed heavily and began to remove the tire. It was clear that they wouldn't make it: there were only eleven words and one period left to the end of the story.

This is what happen when we make ourselves look good :D

'Looking Down' is photo number 4/17. This was taken from the same location as photo 3. I had to wait for a break in the rain to take some pictures of the cathedral. I wanted to capture the cathedral from a different point of view. So i looked at the cathedrals main feature. The hight!! I have named it looking down because in this picture you are either looking up at the white sky, or looking down at the white sky.

No photoshop was used to edit the sky. It really was like that!

I may upload my next shot later today or tomorrow. From that shot onwards i really like the photos so watch out for them :D

This was a shot from the late summer actually, but I forgot to upload it. Main interest here was in the lighting (am I ever not interested in the lighting?) Haha.

St Edmundsbury Cathedral of St James, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

The former parish church of St James, declared the cathedral of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich in 1912. It was massively extended in the years after the Second World War by the architect Stephen Dykes Bower who made it his life's work, and ultimately poured more than four million pounds of his own money into it.

Dykes Bower is sometimes criticised for being one of the last unreconstructed Gothicists, but increasingly his genius for playing with light and space is being recognised. His buildings make use of the massing of internal space to create a sense of size, and then breaking these spaces down into intimate rooms entirely fitting for Anglican worship.

The terrorist look is back. Its amazing how the muslim community is warm and accepting to me with this look. In a recent trip to Dubai, so many people came up to say Salaam Aleikum. It was a very warm and pleasant experience. Quite different from when I got shoved into a room in Swtizerland for photographing a flowerbed in front of some government office.

Funny how all kids love looking at photos right away. We didn't have that option when we were kids! (Even a Polaroid took a minute or two.)
