Himno cristiano 2019 | El resultado final que la obra de Dios aspira a lograr

https://es.easternlightning.org/videos/work-of-God-continues-to-advance-hymn.html

I

II

Aquellos que experimentan la obra de Dios,

quienes realmente le conocen,

sienten reverencia hacia Él.

Quien se aferra a dudar de Dios,

no siente adoración ni reverencia.

No son conquistados aunque lo sigan.

Son desobedientes por naturaleza.

La obra de Dios es para conseguir

que cada ser creado reverencie al Creador;

Bewick's Wren (Thryomanes bewickii)

Mount Tolmie Park, Saanich, BC

This little wren seems to be reaching for something forever out of its grasp.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. - Proverbs 13:12

If you need hope, just look to the sky, and there you will find it - an endless world of possibilities.

+1 in comments. I originally liked that one better because of the light.

I am really going to miss the Dingle peninsula and particularly the area where we've been staying. It truly feels like home. I could see staying here for an extended time, were it possible. Of course I would like all my friends to be here with us . . . ah, well. We can all dream.

We aren't sure what kind of internet access we'll have for the next two weeks, so this may be the last post for awhile.

In the meantime I've finished a new painting, this one a view of the Skellig Islands on the horizon, seen from the cliffs of Moher. I wanted to visit there but it didn't work out. Among other things, everyone here warned us about how dangerous it is. They give you only 2 ½ hours on the island and the path to get up to it is a steep vertical up 800 ft of steep steps, cut into the cliff, with no secure guard rails. Last year two women visitors fell to their death on those steps. And it's been unusually windy while we've been here, so the trip didn't happen.

So here is a painting to express some of my longing to have gone there.

St Mary Magdalene, Madingley, Cambridgeshire

Bring roses, singing girls, soft pansies strew

To decorate these little ashes new;

Nor with one cry or longing tears invade

The sleeping stillness of an infant maid,

Who in one showery day was here and gone,

To God’s invariable peace passed on.

He whispered to her soul; without a stain

She, to His goodness, gave it back again.

Cambridge poet Frances Cornford's translation of the memorial inscription on the tomb of Elizabeth Stewkeley in Madingley church. The Latin original is by Elizabeth's father John. He wrote it on the occasion of her death in 1636 at the age of just one day.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Coton I headed on, crossing the A604 past the American cemetery and down a long straight road over the M11 again to Madingley. As I passed Madingley mill, the sun came out.

This church was my 100th Cambridgeshire church, which isn't much of a record considering that I was taken into one to be baptised more than half a century ago. Be that as it may, Madingley is familiar to me because one of my classmates at Cambridgeshire High School for Boys in the 1970s was a boy whose father was the caretaker of the animal research laboratories in the village. They lived in a bungalow at the entrance to the labs. I remember his dad taking us on an impromptu tour of a lab where angry colubus monkeys shook the bars as we passed them. "Don't get too close to them, some of them have got rabies" he told us. I wonder what Health & Safety legislation would make of this today. I instantly thought of this event when, many years after, I watched the start of the film 28 Days Later.

The church is open every day. It is another midlands church, a larger version of Coton, and sits in the fine grounds of Madingley Hall. The Hall is now a conference centre owned by the university, but in years gone by it was the traditional residence for members of the royal family when attending Cambridge university. I believe that Prince Charles was the last resident. The church is reflective of some of this glory, replete with grand monuments and memorials, mainly to the Cotton family, former residents of the Hall. There is a good amount of medieval glass, and a nice feel of the 19th Century. An alarming 3-D stone Hanoverian royal arms has been reset from elsewhere above the blocked south doorway. The story is that it was brought here when the future Edward VII was resident in the 1860s, but it is at least half a century older and obviously designed for somewhere else.

And then I headed west, away from these pretty villages in their folds of gentle hills out into the agri-industrial plain of south Cambridgeshire.

For sunrise on the beach again, roll on winter just for days like these.

Was on the other side of the peninsula stuck in a restaurant waiting for Creme Brulee and anxiously watching as the light started to slip out of the sky. Said Creme Brulee eventually arrived, was wolfed down and then a 20 minute run with camera, tripod etc ensued from one side of peninsula to the other to catch this.

Doodled art done with black pen on white paper and inverted and edited with Gimp.

Answering questions: Yes, I drew this myself. It took me about 4 hours to draw this but I was thinking about the project for several days. I edited it with a free photo editing software program you can download online called Gimp.
