The Logan Local is working the yard on a breezy and chilly day back in February 2020.
On a whim needing to take vacation from work, I decided to make an impromptu trip to Montana. Hit up all the normal targets including the Gas Local, some mainline trains, and the locals. I skipped the helpers on Mullan as I've covered them heavily before.
As long as I can remember I've been fascinated with Mount Logan.
Canada's tallest mountain (and the largest mountain in the world from a circumference perspective) is in Kluane National Park in the Yukon but it's not viewable from any road. I've been to Kluane five times before in my life, but have never seen this formidable mountain, until this morning.
A 4AM start to the day saw Paul Zizka Photography and I waiting at an airstrip at 4:40AM. We weren't sure of the best time to fly through the incredible mountain range but we had a hunch we'd hit good light.
It was better than we could have imagined, shifting from pastel colours to dramatic moodiness and then, finally, light through all the valleys and spilling onto all the glaciers. Truly one of the most incredible mornings of my life.
Here's Mount Logan (look for the highest). A huge thanks to John from Rocking Star Adventures for being a patience and great pilot.

Darkness settles on the delapidated town of Logan, West Virginia as coal loads from the Emmett mine slowly roll toward Peach Creek yard behind a YN2 AC44.
Shit, I forgot that this third Wolverine film was coming out next year! Well, here's the first poster for it, and know it's officially been titled "Logan." Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
Logan loves this time of year......summer is too hot for him. Thanks all for the wonderful comments.
I thought I’d get out under the stars for a few hours last night and get some shots, this wasn’t the shot I was going for this was my plan b. I wanted to shoot a field of Daffodils but the flowers weren’t in great shape due to the cold weather I guess. Anyway I’m pleased I headed out :)
This is not from a actual scene in the movie but i liked this action shot so i decided to post it any way. Only one more picture to go and my Logan series will be concluded...for now!!!
Logan Mills Covered Bridge is the last historic bridge that is still standing in the county. Built in 1874 by an unknown builder, Logan Mills Covered Bridge was, as so many other covered bridges in the state are, named after a local mill.

In the midst the Allegheny National Forest lies the serene Logan Falls. Although relatively easy to get to, good directions are hard to come by. I spent my time with the planning and took the whole New Year's Day to to explore some waterfalls above the Interstate 80 line.
Parking is available along Forest Road 180 near the town of Marienville, PA. Less than a half mile hike down a fairly easy trail will put you at the base of the falls.
From I-80, take PA Route 66N until you reach the center of Marienville. In the center of the town, bear left onto N. Forest St which will promptly turn into Beaver Meadows Rd and eventually turn into Deadman Corners Rd. At a little over 7 miles, turn left onto FR180 Coal Bed Run Road and a somewhat distinguishable parking area will be on the right hand side in a little over 2 miles.
well rip trying to post more often lol. anyways i made this figure to try and in prove on my last one. overall I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out apart from the claws i made some but then got rid of em as i really hated them. please comment if you fave and critique is appreciated. I hope you guys are ready as I've been working on a bunch of new stuff which will hopefully be up soon, no promises though. thanks :D
Oh and i just realised i've just past 2 years on flickr yay
Final one!
So Logan is the last Logan figure I'm gonna be making before the release of the film, I may make more after I see the film. Logan is the most I've been excited for a movie in a LONG time, so I hope it exceeds expectations!
Now onto the fig, the head came from the original Wolverine fig, I painted the beard and eyebrows grey, and washed them in browns, grays, and tans. I painted scars on his face, and underlined the eyes, and dry brushed some dark red for blood.
The hair is heavily sanded sleepy hair. I know it's not perfect, but honestly I like it better than other hair options I've seen others use.
The torso and arms were sand blue, with the painted shirt, pockets, buttons, wrinkles, skin, and blood.
The legs were dark grey which I washed in blue for the jeans, and white for rips. I also painted on the boots, and added more blood onto the legs.
Shoutout to Yale (97legomaniac), because the sculpted claws, and the comic book were both his designs.
Overall I am really happy with this fog (X-23 is still mah fav)
Thoughts and Suggestions appreciated!

MRL 251 shuffles cars in the yard at Logan on a cool morning. It just dropped the hoppers ahead for the grain elevator and will now put together its train to head west of the 5th Sub.

The first photo I saw that made me want to go to Glacier National Park was of Triple Falls in Logan Pass. Once I booked a flight and started to do some research I found I was more excited to shoot the rivers and streams in Logan Pass than Triple Falls. Before Willie, Alan, and I arrived at Glacier National Park the forecast looked good for some beautiful sunsets. Unfortunately that never happened -- on nights just like this, we watched the clouds disappear right before our eyes just minutes before sunset. 15 minutes after I took this photo the clouds were completely gone. So frustrating!
Logan Pass is known for its rivers, streams, and wild flowers. Due to a dry winter the flowers weren't in bloom as we had expected. In fact, there were hardly any flowers around. Thanks to 2 days of rain, though, the streams were gushing quite well. Logan Pass sits in between 2 mountains: Mt. Reynolds and Mt. Clements. I find Mt. Clements to be the more photogenic mountain and I knew I wanted to find a waterfall with Mt. Clements in the background. I feel like I hiked around forever trying to find the perfect spot. I found this spot midway through my wandering and when Alan came around and showed me that he had also found this spot, I knew it was where I wanted to be during sunset.
I got partially into the stream to get the angle that I wanted on the waterfalls. I then used a 4 image focus stack to ensure sharpness throughout the photo and a 5th photo exposed for the sky. I only wish the clouds here had lit up with some color but I can't complain. It was such a beautiful way to spend the afternoon that I didn't even mind my feet were soaked (I would have felt bad that Alan and Willie had to endure my wet feet but luckily Alan's feet were even worse. It wasn't until later on in the trip that I got my shoes so wet they had to be scanned multiple times at the airport!).

Port Logan – is a delightful village in a sheltered and sandy bay on the west coast of the Rhins of Galloway. It is south of Portpatrick and just to the north of the Mull of Galloway – Scotland`s Lands End. Port Logan was the main location for the BBC series 2000 Acres of Sky. More recently, Port Logan Harbour was a location for the film Keepers starring Gerard Butler and Peter Mullan, premiered in Scotland in February 2019.
Port Logan has a most interesting harbour. The Bell Tower at the end of the harbour was designed by Thomas Telford who is better known for designing bridges and canals such as the Caledonian Canal.
Just loved the light on the right wing. Not sure if it's a landing light or anti-collision light or what, but I like the effect at least.
Logan... what a beautiful movie!!! I was so overwhelmed by the acting, the action and the drama is this film that i had to some shots...
It's nautical twilight; coal buckets loaded at Pardee deep in the Appalachian Mountains shake and sqeal as their load-bearing steel wheels grind against the windy track geometry of the Gyandotte River bank. This scene has been repeated a hundred thousand times over on the premier coal artery of the C&O. Block signalling was installed on the 62-miles section of the Logan Sub between Barboursville and Peach Creek beginning in 1939, with controlled territory being overlayed on an 11-mile single-track section between WH Cabin and Ranger the same year. Traffic maxed-out near 28,000 loaded cars out of Peach Creek at this time. Though looking severely worn, the cantilever here at EEDT was not part of the original installation, or at least not here. Once double-track all the way to WH, Chessie System truncated all but a 3-mile section south of Barboursville to a single main and resignalled the line in the late 1960s/early 70s. This location was merely straight track running, Rule-251 and featured a mast pair down the tracks from this location
