The actual name for the Ballard Locks is the "Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and Carl S. English Jr. Gardens". The locks were finished in 1917 by the US Army Corp of Engineers and are the largest in North America. The locks are vital to Seattle's Maritime History as they provide a means of passage for fishing boats returning from the North Pacific and the Bering Sea.

In an alley in Osaka, Japan, there was this awesome red rope light in the shape of a heart on the wall. Inside of it were rows of little locks with writing and hearts on it. Thought it was cute, but random!
September 2009
Paul and I spent 3 days recently in Prague, Czech Republic.
We stayed in a hotel on Neurodova, in the Lesser Town. It is a really pretty part of Prague, similar to the Old Town but hotels and restaurants are cheaper.
First day - we took a free 4 hour walking tour offered to us by the company we had booked our bus transfer through. We got a good overview of Prague and it helped us orientated ourselves. After lunch we wandered some more in Prague old town.
Second day - we went on an early morning walk (6am get up so we could catch the early morning light). After returning for a snooze, we again headed off for a wander round Prague taking in more sites.
Third day - we had a late evening flight so we had a full day to wander. We decided on heading up the TV tower and the Petrin Tower which gave us different perspectives of the city, but both from good viewpoints.
