Benson Lock is a lock on the River Thames in England, close to Benson, Oxfordshire but on the opposite bank of the river. The first pound lock here was built by the Thames Navigation Commission in 1788 and it was replaced by the present masonry lock in 1870.

Llanthony Lock - was built in 1871, to allow boats passing up and down the River Severn avoid the new weir just south of here. The weir was constructed to ensure a minimum depth of six feet in the river above Gloucester. The lock was closed in 1924 due to the walls moving.
The area is being restored by the Hereford & Gloucester Canal Trust, and currently the only public access is the footpath through the lock itself!

A couple has locked this red lock on the Steel Bridge, so when they jog by they will remember, back in the day.
Huh? Crutches and a bike wheel locked to a tree in downtown Victoria. I almost wanted to sit around and see who came to claim them...

This one was taken a couple weeks back, but I keep seeing it while going through images and really like it. There are abandoned locks like this all over Portland.
This is another shot of Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 9 which is located in the George Street Park in Cohoes, NY. This view is looking north from the lower end of the lock taken near Alexander Street. This lock was built in 1842 and was a double lock. This is a view of the center island. The small hole near the bottom of the lock is the spillway tunnel which was used to rid the lock of any excess water and control the level above the lock. This is one of the best preserved locks in Cohoes. A stone path begins here and follows the canal route to Spring Street in this section of the linear park which continues to follow the canal route through the Cohoes area.

This is Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 59 in Newark, NY This is the upper entrance looking east. It was a double chamber, single length lock and it was built in 1841 with a second chamber being built in 1874. The south chamber is partly buried. The north chamber is empty and it is possible to walk halfway down it before you reach swampy conditions. The three openings in the head of the lock are spillway entrances which release the excess water and control the water level above the lock. The lift of the lock was approximately 8 feet. In canal days this lock was referred to as the Upper Lockville Lock. It is located northeast of the center of town and is located across from Barge Canal Lock 28-B.

Reason behind the name? The car decided to lock me outside, with the keys in the ignition....if only it was Scotland, I could have names it Loch-ed out, lovely... haha! 2 hour wait for the spare key to be brought out to me, in the drizzle, with only a thin t-shirt on, was lovely! Camera gear and waterproofs locked in the car....
A very wet and misty day, and an extremely miserable me after being locked out of the car at Yew Tree Tarn, mono was the only way to go with this one, plus, i'm loving black and white at the moment anyhow....
