This view shows a section of the Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 61 (Upper Macedon Lock) which was built in 1862. This is the north chamber, looking southeast.. This chamber is used as a spillway for Lock 30 of the modern Erie Barge Canal so there is fast running water moving through it. It is a double chamber lock. It was referred to as the Upper Lock, as there were two Enlarged Erie Canal locks in Macedon at that point in time. It is not maintained so due to all the brush and assorted greenery it is difficult to see . It is located off of Route 31 on Route 31 F/ 350 in the village of Macedon across the road from Erie Barge Canal Lock 30.
The hardware for the nook porch door is substantial. Unfortunately, it's stuck in the locked position, so it has gone to the Lock Doctor

A lock on one of the gates of a Mapuche community. It is a testament to the repressed lifestyle that they are destined to lead until changes are made.
This lock has been preserved in superficial working order since at least the 1970s. Even if it were working it would serve no purpose as about fifty yards further north the canal is culverted under Pentre Lane. Ironically, the locks between Pentre Lane and Ty Coch have been restored to working order even though the navigable stretch of the canal finishes about two miles further north at Five Locks, Pontnewydd, and the canal is culverted at Pentre Lane and Hollybush Way, isolating this section.

Game of the Week features Ocean Lakes (12-0) and Oscar Smith (11-0) who meets for the fourth time in playoffs.
Ocean Lakes, the defending state champions motto is to go 1-0 and they look forward to that challenge. "We know what it feels like to go home and know what it's like to keep winning. Just play Dolphin football," said Sr. RB, Justin Smith.
Oscar Smith won state championships in 2008 and 2011. This year still undefeated but with plenty of games that came down to the wire. "Tough battles in the years past but we have to work for what we earned," said Sr. Center, Wayne Lee.
Last season in playoffs, the Dolphins won 49-28 over the Tigers. The game will be played this Friday, Nov. 27th at 7 p.m. at Oscar Smith.

The lock is cool. You line up the basket hooks with the wire at the base of the basket (down at the bottom in the picture), then you turn the handle of the basket from one side to the other, which allows the end of the handle to slide into a catch, and locks the basket. The opposite -- uncatching it by just lifting the handle, in the intuitive way -- is cool.
