When it's raining outside, there's usually something to have a snap at indoors!

One of the temporary casualties of the pandemic lockdowns was the cinema business. Shown here is the Palace Cinema at Pentridge in Coburg, 2021.

Since we moved house in February, it's been increasingly difficult to find time for anything but work, renovations, missing tradespeople etc. So I decided to do a photo a day challenge for June. Wish me luck!!

Very fortuitously I received an order of spices today and they sent me recipe cards with the jars!

We had a run over to our friends' farm, today, for a (socially distanced) look at some of the new arrivals in the cowsheds.

Jack, the world famous footballing dog, was desperate for a kickabout, yesterday. He also does an excellent impression of a werewolf's howl!

I do really need to get out more. Hopefully not long now. One of our wheelie bins is used for lumps of wood for the wood burner. I recently decorated it with a vinyl sticker. You will be delighted to hear, the image used for the sticker is one of my own photos. This is the Modern World.

New Zealand’s first-ever ‘Vaxathon’ will take place this weekend on ‘Super Saturday’ (16 October) – a national day of action that calls on every remaining eligible New Zealander to get their shot.

“Everyone across the motu has a role to play to protect Aotearoa/New Zealand against COVID-19 by getting vaccinated, and we’re calling for a massive collective effort to make this happen," says Tamati Sheppard-Wipiiti, Group Manager of Equity for the Ministry of Health's COVID-19 Vaccine and Immunisation Programme.

“By far the biggest and most powerful weapon we have in our fight against COVID-19 is vaccination – so we really need everyone from our whānau, families and communities to step up and play their part, and to help us reach those who have not yet come forward.

“The Vaxathon is just one of the ways we’re reaching out, with vaccine clinics also open right across Aotearoa all day and into the evening as part of the nationwide push, so it’s never been easier to get your shot,” he says.

Bailey Mackey, from Pango Productions, says the Vaxathon encourages New Zealanders - particularly young Māori, Pacific and tāngata whaikaha (those living with a disability) - to get vaccinated.

First pics from yesterday's rideout through Pleasley. This is the Old Corn Mill Weir, on the River Meden, in the centre of old Pleasley Village, Nottinghamshire. I've been passing this spot for in excess of 60 years (ouch!) and I have never seen the water level as high as this. Taken with the Gopro Hero 8 Black, mounted on a really cool photo-pole (Wilko's extending window cleaning pole!)

From Friday's rideout, a few pics of Hermitage Mill Weir, on the River Maun in Mansfield. A couple of these ar a bit blurred as they were taken one-handed, whilst trying to keep my balance on a very muddy riverbank!

For yesterday's rideout, I returned to the Hermitage Nature Reserve and the Maun Valley. More specifically, the former Hermitage Mill Weirs. This time, I went a bit better prepared. My kit for today included the Gopro Hero 8 Action-cam and improvised camera pole (a 3-metre extending window cleaning pole from Wilko's!).

As can be seen from this set, this potentially beautiful little spot is in desperate need of some serious TLC!
