This arrived today, so no excuse in not getting out and taking photos.... (apart from the worldwide pandemic of a killer virus and a national lockdown.) - but apart from that.... ....No excuses!

It’s been a long time since I posted any photographs here. I’ve spent the last few years focused on family life and releasing my feature length documentary, The Easy Bit. Hopefully I’ll be able to post a bit more now. Recently we moved to the beautiful town of Thaxted in Essex and due to spending most of our time here under lockdown we’ve taken the opportunity to explore the area with long walks. Today my daughter and I took a wander down to the local windmill.

Love the colours on these birds

Here are the last few pics from my recent rideout around King's Mill Reservoir and Hermitage Nature Reserve. This is the weir that served the Hermitage Mill, on Hermitage Lane. There's a lot of water in the river Maun at the moment but the banking down to river level is very slippery!!!

This shot was taken in Windsor, back around 2014.

Re-worked and posted as part of my #lockdown2021 set

A couple more pics from my recent rideout along the Papplewick Trail. This is the weir that used to feed water, from the River Leen, into the mill pond for Linby Mill. Super-slow or super-fast shutter speed : take your pick!

seen at the back of a beautiful church cemetery thats contains fallen Battle of Britain pilot's and shakespeares grand-daughter..

The lobby of the Westin Hotel in Melbourne, during lockdown 6, and promised to be the last lockdown Melbourne has as we reach 70% full vaccination.

Oh, these double meanings...

Ok so firstly in a lockdown what am I doing on the outskirts of Torquay?

Well the wife broke her ankle back in December in Torquay and had the operation carried out there, today was one of her check ups to see if everything is going ok and happily it is, she is well on the mend!

So after I dropped her off for her appointment it was off to walk the dog (daily exercise!) and with the camera handy snapped this rather smart Dart on an engineer test run.

It was nice to catch up with a few buses from the area, plenty of Dart action which was good!

February 2021. Melbourne was still in the throes of waves of lockdowns.

A couple of phone pics from my rideout on Sunday morning. Boundary Wood incorporates what used to the the old pit tip at Blidworth, Nottinghamshire. Some excellent walking and cycling to be had, there.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. It's been a crazy ride, but if you're reading this, we are still here. I took the opportunity to go for a long drive, and shot at a beach down on the Mornington Peninsula. As I crouched on the sand and took some of the first photos for 2021, I thought how different this year will be in so many ways. Stay safe and healthy out there.

A selection of birds from my walk yesterday. Really love a crisp winter's day.

enjoying the start of the Spring weather

A couple more shots from last Friday's rideout. King's Mill Viaduct Waterfall. This is where the river Maun flows out of King's Mill Reservoir. Plenty of water in the river, following some pretty heavy rain!

beautiful sunlight peeping through the tree's..liked the balanced blue sky behind the branch..

Like almost everywhere else in the world, Melbourne was a desolate and quiet place in the pandemic days.
