The crew loads rocks onto the push car for transport down the line. The rock was used as fill a washout on the right-of-way. The Fairmount A-6 gang car belongs to the FEDS.

Volunteers from two railways joined forces to clear rocks and improve water drainage in the Tunnel No. 1 cut on the Southern Pacific Placerville Branch rail line. The El Dorado Western Railway and Folsom, El Dorado and Sacramento Historical Railroad Association met just after 10 a.m. at the cut, which is visible from eastbound U.S. 50 at the Red Hawk Parkway exit.

I am a bit embarrassed to upload this but it's late now and I won't have time to do it again! I've messed up the spraying! The visual triangle is 3 snowflakes but you can't really see the one at the top! I LOVE this photo though! We don't often get snow and here are my favourite beach huts covered in a snowy white blanket!

The Bugis Schooners were often loaded with bags of concrete or Rice. The work is back breaking, but this worker was happy to see us and gave us a big smile. The guys loading the concrete bags would carry two 50kg bags on their shoulders as they walked up the gangplank to load the boats.

Loading big bags of Calcinit into hold nr. 6 of the Star Lofoten

A Soldier uses a skid-steer loader to remove a damaged, dirt-filled culvert in Cokedale, Colo., Aug. 11, 2012. The 947th Engineer Company (Horizontal), Colorado Army National Guard, is installing culverts, cleaning ditches and repairing degraded dirt roads in the small town in southern Colorado. These repairs, in turn, will update and improve the town's infrastructure by directing storm water runoff away from building foundations, and improve the overall quality of life in the tiny town. The 35 Soldiers of 2nd Platoon have been working here since Aug. 4. According to town officials, Cokedale is also a National Historic District -- the only intact coal mining town in Colorado and one of a few remaining in the country -- so the Soldiers' work is also helping preserve history. This civil-military project is part of the National Guard’s Innovative Readiness Training program. Civil-military IRT projects enhance unit training and readiness, while filling a community need that is not otherwise being met. The unit must maintain its readiness by performing realistic training, and IRT projects provide a meaningful outlet for that training and help connect National Guard units with the communities they serve. A charged plasma battery is carefully loaded onto 6932 by 6848 for transport to the colony on Mars.

The one drawback with using 6932 was the way the pod doors swing upward, obscuring both the loading of the battery and the monkey stowaway. That said it was probably less of a problem from a child's eye level.

Name of Program: Housing reconstruction program after Gorkha Earthquake

Beneficiary Name: Kedar Thapa

Location: Sindhupalchowk district, Fulpingkoty-1, Nepal

Building Typology: Stone Masonry in Mud Mortar with flexible roof

Supported by: Nepal Government

Supported In: Grant & Technical Assistance

Stone in mud buildings are constructed using dressed or undressed stones available at the site with mud mortar. The structural walls are the main load-bearing component of the building. The walls are usually 450-650 mm. thick. Such thick walls are generally constructed in multiple wythes with the filler material (small pieces of stones) between the walls. The floor system is the flexible type of mud flooring on bamboo or timber joists. The roof system is also flexible type with CGI sheets or tiles over timber rafters.

Nepal suffered a massive loss of lives and property on Saturday 25 April 2015, when the devastating magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Nepal. Subsequent aftershocks, including one of magnitude 7.3 near the Chinese border on 12 May, produced additional losses of life and property.

The earthquake triggered avalanches on Mount Everest and in the Langtang valley. Villages were flattened and people were made homeless across 31 districts, with 14 districts suffering the highest impact. Infrastructure was damaged throughout the earthquake zone. Historic neighborhoods and heritage sites were destroyed in the Kathmandu Valley.

As a result of the earthquake, 8,790 people died and more than 22,300 people were injured. Assessments showed that at least 498,852 private houses and 2,656 government buildings were destroyed. Another 256,697 private houses and 3,622 government buildings were partially damaged. In addition, 19,000 classrooms were destroyed and 11,000 damaged.

The earthquake affected manufacturing, production, and trade in agriculture as well as tourism and other areas of the service sector, thereby weakening the national economy. Economic growth fell in 2015 and has picked up slowly 2016. Once fully underway, reconstruction should contribute to economic growth in the coming years.

According to initial estimates arrived at during the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), NPR 669 billion would be required to reconstruct damaged properties and infrastructure and to support recovery in affected sectors of the economy.

The government was providing 300 hundred thousand grant for Private housing reconstruction & 100 hundred thousand grant for retrofitting of the private house.

This was a bit of effort. It's a template from a class I took at Big Picture last year with Amy Sorensen. I couldn't figure out how to make the mitered journal frame (no, it's not digi), but I sat down today and figured it out. Finally!

I love this page. I was going to embellish, but I couldn't find anything that truly added to it to my satisfaction.
