This is a baby Eastern Fence Lizard that I photographed while on the boardwalk in the Buzzardroost Rock Preserve. I was at the top of Buzzardroost Rock when I came across this little lizard in October of 2009. The preserve is located in Adams County, Ohio.
Podarcis muralis . A juvenile. It was about 4"/10cms long. Adults reach 12-18cms and it takes 2 years for a male and 3 for a female to reach maturity. They are not native to the UK.
There are many of these sunning themselves and hunting on the cliff on a sunny day.
It wasn't scared of Tizzy..amazing! I suppose if you are born next to a busy zigzag cliff path people are just part of the landscape.
It is thought that introduced colonies, particularly this one in Bournemouth, may have already had a detrimental effect on the native lizard populations.
A lizard on a wall by the Donkey Steps into Loggos. It was actually vertical but I thought it looked better this way.
I went to the zoo today with a big group of friends. We had so much fun but it was so hut. Ugh. We're going to a Reds' game tonight. We all know how much I hate sports, but I love these people so it shouldn't be too bad.
