I spotted this lizard in my backyard from my kitchen. To avoid disturbing the lizard, I opened the kitchen window and took the picture from there.
This was taken in the south of France whilst on holiday with my other half, had such a fun time there.
She came and went so quickly that I didn't have time to put out my tape measure, but I estimate she was easily one-and-a-half feet in length. This was not a small lizard.

It let me pass. This is one of the Texas Spiny LIzards I often see around my yard. They're kind of shy. It's hard to get this close.

This is Stumpy ;-) One day I might tell you what I'm singing to him while he relaxes here. He is quite in love with being photographed; if a group of lizards are present, he always has to push to the front or climb onto the others to get into the best posing position. Isn't he gorgeous :) As you can see he has no competition here and is happy to stretch out with his back to me and soak up the sunshine. I have got shots with open eyes too, but this one is soooo cute :) I never get bored watching them.
Jersey is the only place in the British Isles with a native population of green lizards but they are increasingly under threat. They are among the largest European lizards and adult males can reach up to 40 cm in length. This female example photographed beneath the skirts of Mont Orgueil castle, Gorey, warming itself in the sun was in the region of 20cm in length.
