18 2.0sec frames composited in camera using Olympus Live Composite Exposure Mode image; using a 10stop ND to get the shutter speed down to 2 sec (to use Live Composite exposures have to be 0.5sec or longer), and a polarizer to darken the sky. The windmills are 1600 and 2300 feet away from this driveway on Base Line Rd (about .3mi off of Highway 206), Sherman County, Oregon. See first comment below for why the upper left part of the disc is darker than the rest and other lessons learned. OM20384

I needed a helper to take this image… but I couldn’t find one. Turns out, it’s hard to assemble a photography team when the mission calls for loading up and heading out to the middle of nowhere, at dusk, with the temperatures below freezing.

So in lieu of a helper, I loaded up my five foot step ladder (which I nicknamed Tippy), and headed off into the Ohio tundra.

On location I set up Tippy, and strapped the tripod in place up high, so that the camera was about eight feet in the air. I tripped the shutter, and then did my own stunt driving, motoring my truck up and down the road a few times to get the light trails I wanted.

I got one take I liked, and then it was dark and bitterly cold. I loaded up Tippy and the gear, and headed home - sporting some slightly numb fingers and toes.

This is a long exposure of the harbor in Chania, Crete, Greece. I used the Live Composite feature on my Olympus EM5 Mark II camera. Its funny how you look at your pictures and think about how you would improve them given the opportunity to take them again!

Exposure time 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Grand final of an amazing week with Stephan Störmer. Just returned from beautiful Münster with tons of captures - birds, staircases (of course 😉), architecture, and even a rainbow at the blue hour 😄

Happy Sunday everyone 🌞

Man läuft vom Parkplatz ca. 20 Minuten dorthin.

Today I checked out a few lost places around Barcelona.

La Torre del Governador and Torre Salvana are closed. Mirador del Semàfor is open and a very beautiful motif. You walk there from the parking lot for about 20 minutes. But I didn't want to wait until sunset and made my way to Balneario de La Puda de Montserrat.

There you can park your car directly on the site. The basement is overwhelming. This is where this picture was taken. I didn't have a lot of equipment in my backpack. An LEDLenser that I flanged into a green water bottle and a calligraphy tool that I used to illuminate the walls.

I hope you like the result.

Spring has been busy swelling the river, painting leaves back onto trees and brush working the sky. Two Live Composite images (for a total of 5 minutes of exposure time), one taken with a 10-stop Neutral Density filter and the other taken with a Hoya R72 Infrared filter (converted to Black&White) combined in Photoshop using Color and PinLight layer modes. Two Olympus Live Composite Mode images (see first comment below) totaling ~5 minutes of exposure, one consisting of 95 2sec frames thru a 10 stop neutral density filter and the other consisting of 81 2sec frames thru a Hoya R72 Infrared filter, combined using the PhotoShop PinLight Layer mode, and then tweaked using Nik ColorEfex Cross Processing and Pro Contrast filters, with a final color tweak using Levels Gray Point tool on the clouds just above the center of the bridge. Another Light Trail shot from my last morning in NYC, this time of the Flat Iron Building, again using the Live Composite mode. This trip was the first time I had used this particular mode, despite having had the camera for over 18 months. It’s great for these types of shots as it takes the guess work out as you can see the image build up on the screen and just close the shutter when you’re satisfied 😀

I had hoped for a clearer sky in order to get some colour as the sun came up. Unfortunately it it was just leaden skies which then turned to rain, which was nice (not).
