Another lino cut, this one was turned into a card for my friend's birthday. I've got one more tiny piece of lino to use, then I'll have to get some more. The paper is brown parcel paper stuck to the card.

This is the 2nd-to-the-last version of this linocut and it's my favorite.
Tara Donovan (2003) "Untitled (Pins)" is a precise cube of size 17 straight pins. Behind, right, is Philip Taaffe (1983) "Untitled III", a linoprint collage on muslin on canvas. On left is Shannon Ebber (2011) "XIS" archival pigment prints. Exhibits on 4th floor of gallery, quick stop of Silver Line bud from downtown to airport. ©2012 Julia Forsyth, Eagle Owl Linoblock, Sharpie and transferred drawing on carved linoblock, 5" x 8"
This was the 2nd transfer attempt. These blocks really add up with wasted time, money, and creative energy (and regular energy, too!) when an attempt fails. Plus it puts me in a seriously foul mood. So I was very glad the 2nd attempt worked out!
Most of the transfer turned out great, but part of his eye and parts of his head didn't transfer at all. I just grabbed my Sharpie and re-drew on the block what didn't transfer. Then I picked up my carving tools and went to town.

I didn't plan it, but I think it's really interesting how abstracted Odiehas become from the beginning of that very first black and white "classic" Odie linocut print to this latest color-enhanced, map-printed linocut print in the series.
This is going to be in thegallery8680's 101x101 show that opens in a couple of weeks. I'll take another pic of how it looks framed when that's done too.
