Print of a card game on a summer evening in Cape Breton.

Paris based street artist, Space Invader, has invaded the world with his small mosiacs featuring his Space Invader characters. To make this print, featuring an invader I first made a 15mm x 15mm vinyl block. Then I made a handle and glued that to the block. Next I ruled up the paper into a grid and worked out the placement of the colours, then I printed each block using the little vinyl print - hoping I did not make any mistakes. This is poster #4 in my project to create 52 posters using the media favoured by street artists during 2013. #4/52

lino print, 6 x 9 inches, traditional lino, oil based ink, 100 lb paper, portable printing press.

In Illustration class we had to design a illustration for a paper bag. I chose to do one for a fictional shop called The Small Animal Pet Shop. The medium was lino printing and first I made this little fellow.

I think this turned out pretty good for my first try at linocut printing, considering - maybe I shouldn't have created an image 4.5" x 6" of mostly solid color and expected it to print nice and clean....still, I am pretty happy with my first results. Printed on 80# cover with water based ink using two 5 x 7 blocks for the image.

The bunny image is an omnipresent stencil graffiti image here in Portland, OR. An example of the actual:

Here it is looking all cleaned up - the first step of a new commissioned piece I'm working on for a friend. Now I'm going to add color to it.

If you compare #draw365.97.2 with yesterday's #draw365.96.2, you'll see the strengths and weaknesses of Flickr (clearer through a scan and truer to what it looks like in real life but removed from the process) and Instagram (poorly focused but immediate, also very accommodating to the process when you take a pic of all of it at once instead of editing out everything but the art). Also, Flickr seems to be a better archival program vs. the immediacy of Instagram.

They're both great in their own ways.

making little floral linocuts, print size 4"x3" blogged

I made this lino print of Big Daddy for Graham's birthday recently. I hadn't got down and dirty (sore and blood drenched) with a sheet of lino for a number of years. I had forgotten how satisfying it could be to see your image appear... and appear... and appear... and appear... I printed most of these on the blue patterned insides of recycled envelopes. I will most definitely be printing again. So satisfying and worth the bloodshed :)

Update: a rather shameless plug... but you can now buy this here!

Updated update: Why buy when you can get for free? This print is one of three prizes looking for a new home on my blog this week. For your chance to win, just leave a comment on this post before Friday 20th March. Good luck!

A gift for the artist/writer in your family. These are little journals with a prompt on each page, suitable for creative writing or sketching.

Plenty of options available: original print on hard covers (raw board with fabric spine and fabric corner protection, ) - these are good for those who want to sketch or write on the go; bright coloured soft covers available with original print, digitally remastered print in medium or small.

I lack the time to list them in my shop right now, but you are welcome to contact me directly if you are interested. -- Hope you'll like them. And the prompts of course.

Linoprint on luggage tags.

A collection of six of my "woman with hat" bookmarks hand printed on same size colourd cardstock in a folded booklet (which bears another woman with hat print) to either look at together like a book, or you can take them out to use.

So here's the classic! I'm happy with it. You never know exactly what it's gonna look like until you print it, but this one had some fun surprises.

As much as I'm loving the classic black and white linocut print, I'm dying to find out what it looks like with color, too. Hope to make that discovery tomorrow.
