it reads "I am an artist...blah blah." Daily affirmation via Edison.

Just something about this photo of my friend that seems classic, beautiful, forever.

Very old and now converted to a light switch for the crypt

My (OK, I've lost count, 6th I think?) build for ABS! I'm having lots of fun, hope you like it! Also ignore the use of the part on the pencil again, I figured it couldn't hurt since only the top five builds get judged, enjoy!

An interior wall with light switches. (8092a)

This lamp was a wedding gift to my parents. It is a miracle that the reverse painted glass shade survived bringing up three boys in one apartment, a small flat and a modest 50's era bungalow, ttwo empty nest apartments and three housed we have lived in since it was passed down.

So, this is me. I really didn't mean to be hiding. I just snipped my hair. Now I have rather short hair and huge, giant bangs, which is a first. I also now look to be about eight years old. Hello! It's funny, I don't know why it took me so many years to come to terms with having curly, red hair. I kinda like it now. I can assure you, the cruel things I did to it in high school are almost too barbaric to mention.

Sorry I don't have anything better to offer today – the move is finally through, though. I am sitting in the one piece of furniture in my living room. It's actually quite pleasant to have this big empty space all to myself. You can see my bare shelves in this shot :)

The background 'cloud' is actually salt spray lifted by the strong winds. The hymn 'for those in peril on the sea' came to mind in the worst sea storm I've ever witnessed - so scary.

I had the advantage of a low wall to brace myself and the camera - without it I would not have been able to shoot anything in these conditions. With the clouds being rushed across the sun, the light changed as quickly as if someone flicked a lightswitch on.

Let's put the lights out at former ammunition factory Hembrug at Zaandam, The Netherlands.

Explored, at least temporarily...

Busted light switch, vacant home

This light switch is from 1917 and was used in Canada.

It died in 2018, thus lasted only 101 years.

I jokingly say that it had come with a lifetime warranty, but lasted barely over a century.

The Farmers' Market has grown a TON since this video was taken. If you're visiting Austin and looking for something to do on a Saturday morning, swing by downtown and check it out. Free parking last time I checked :) Republic Square Park, 4th & Guadalupe.

I want to thank everyone for their views & comments and all around support. Means a lot to get good feedback, I'm sure that's why a lot of us are on flickr in the first place. help get that boost to go out and be even more active. So feel free to glance through my photostream, I've turned into somewhat of a gardener lately - I'd love comments & feedback in that arena if it interests anyone.

This one's a time lapse of the vendors at Austin's Farmers' Market setting up early on a Saturday morning. This is the video I'd really been wanting to do for a long time. I liked how it turned out. Have a good view of some of the downtown austin skyline too, the main building is the Frost Bank Tower.

I got really lucky because I wanted the camera going before the first person got there and you can see I started taking photos right when the first set-up person's truck was at the traffic light across the street. Have to say I would have been totally annoyed if I had missed him by a few minutes ;)

My personal faves are the airplane that comes thru right at the beginning, about 5 seconds in, and crosses behind the building on the left the second the lights go out at the top, almost like a lightswitch.

Always love the traffic lights, but one part I really love is the tow truck that comes in at around 50 seconds to tow the SUV out of the way. Thats actually an ongoing joke with a few of us at the apartment, because they'll tow the cars somewhere else in the vicinity, and when the people come back for their cars (usually after a Friday night of drinking downtown), they'll sometimes wander around forever wondering what on earth happened to their cars. pretty funny to see...

It's definitely a great weekly market to visit here in Austin with live music and wonderful vendors. Check out their website for more information.

1 photo every 5 seconds, from about 6:15am - 8:45am. Put together with Quicktime at 24fps. Comes to a little less than 2000 photos in this one.

An aging light switch on a peeling wall in the hospital of Pripyat...

nuanced commonality

Century old push-button light switches still work well.

Sometimes there are only a few centimeters between a little enlightenment and the direct path to God.

We bought a clear light switch plate for the bathroom and cut out a piece of the ceiling border to go in it.

ODC - 8/22/2022 - Light Switches

I love the thought of abandon houses. I love the thought of plantation homes of the Deep South. I love the thought of an old log cabin. I love the thought of a castle. And I love the thought of old Western ranch homes. Essentially I love the thought of any place that I think has the potential for an adventure, a hidden room or lots of history. Places to hide your gold. Places to hide from the Indians. Places to store valuables from greedy relations. Places for future generations to find.

I want to explore these places. I want to find their secrets. Their dungeons. Their hidden staircases. Their secret closets.

I pretend and dream. And sometimes when its dark outside and the wind is howling I walk up the stairs. Pop. Squeak. Crrrreeeeek. Sometimes I wish I had a flashlight. Sometimes I wonder what's waiting for me at the top of the stairs. Will someone jump out? Will I fall through the floor? Alas, its only my house. And I know where the lightswitch is when I reach the top of the stairs. But sometime, sometime, that story might be different. I have prepared myself mentally. An abandoned house. A dreary castle. A lone log cabin. Those buildings call my name...
