This little one stopped for just a second under our bird feeder’s pole. Don’t know if I captured a she or a he, but that’s not important. What counts is that he/she struck a pose in perfect light and I was ready for it. Just a bit of fine tuning brought it out. I think that I just got lucky!

This was one of my sons' childhood toys, I really can't remember which one but it makes it around 30 years old now. It has lost its hat and the truncheon is broken but I can't bring myself to throw it out.

I wanted to show the workings for this week's Macro Mondays theme "balance" with this clever trick of balancing 2 forks onto a glass of water by nothing simpler than a cocktail stick. The difficult part was not to get the forks from continually rocking - a spate of time is required.

No, this isn't some microbial emergence in a scientist's dish. I photographed this down the glass coffee pot with small amount of water with a mix of oil with a separation of washing-up liquid, and then a light and coloured object underneath....
