The Mississippi River has decided to give Downtown Davenport, Iowa a big hug. The water you see is covering River Street no less
These extremely detailed props were on EVERY lightpost in the park. There were a freaking ton of them.
1. The principle of design that this photo investigates is asymmetry. It is a light post that is on one side of the photo.
2. The most successful part of the photo to me is the background of the sky behind the post.

It's my birthday.
Mom and Dad came to town and we had dinner at a Japanese restraunt Friday night. That was a bit of a big deal (chop sticks and raw fish) for them and I was proud. :)
Saturday I went to the Farmer's Market to look around and get some produce. It's also my cousin Easton's first birthday so I ran home for his party and to pick up my gift from Mom and Dad. I went out to dinner and drinks with friends afterwards (but was bright enough to not take the camera along).
I headed to my parents' house after the market for my cousin's first birthday party. I got there a little early and had lunch with mom in the park.
When I was done with my trail walk I saw this little guy sitting on a lightpost! He didn't seem to mind at all that I kept walking closer and closer to him to get a better shot :)
Two juvenile gulls interact near an old streetlamp, one in flight and the other mid-landing. Their mottled brown-and-white plumage and dark bills indicate first-year birds, likely Herring or Ring-billed Gulls. Captured against a moody sky, this urban wildlife moment blends graceful motion with gritty, everyday surroundings — a classic snapshot of city-dwelling seabirds adapting to human structures.
