Because I misread the plaque, I came back to take a photo after emptying my camera's memory because I wanted to post it here and comment on my misreading the plaque.
The "SPQR" on the lightpost is everywhere around the city. It comes from a Latin phrase used by the Republic and translates as "The Senate and the people of Rome."
I was passing those light posts for number of years and finally it was time to capture it. They completely change the small street's atmosphere. (1223)
I've been doing a lot of editing and iphone pictures lately. Reason why: the store that i went to have my film developed is out of business so now I have no place to go to :'(
I reallllyyy don't want to have to go to Wal-mart to develop them... and I have about 7 rolls to develop D:

Looking back towards Siena's signature tower. I like the way the lightpost echoes the shape of the tower.
Love this sign, the lightpost and the unused building int he background because there is this little piece of 50s Americana slowly fading away about 20 minutes outside of Chicago (I believe this sign shows up in Wayne's World, but it may just be the infamous "spindle" sculpture. There are purportedly plans to demolish much of what is left to make room for a Walgreens.
Cermak Plaza was originally home to many outdoor sculptures. Many of which have been taken away due to disrepair. For now this sign and the original lighiting remains.
