An excellent page explaining the science behind that age-old rule of thumb about sailors and red sky can be found here. The basic idea is that high pressure areas of the atmosphere tend to contain a lot of "dirty" air (soot, dust, other particles), and low angle sunlight passing through dirty air experiences scattering such that mainly reddish wavelengths arrive at the observer. As a result: "Since it is morning you are looking east, and the red sky indicates that there is high pressure there. Because you are in the mid-latitudes, the high is moving eastward--away from you. That could only mean that a low, and very likely an associated storm, is moving toward you from the west. Sailor take warning!"

Along the Tower of London, I literally had a fraction of a second to frame it, focus, adjust my settings and capture the photo before throngs of tourists blocked my view. It was incredibly crowded this day in London.
Its not really a chalet, but it kind of reminds me of one. I actually dont know what this building is. It is located within a forest preserve and from the looks of it, Im guessing it used to a church of some sort.
Still going through some winter shots. Sorry to chill you...lol.
Lots of food tags today on the way to the Barc Cat Fair. These were taken walking from Greenpoint to N 1st & Wythe in Williamsburg. Some have been around for a while, some are new.

As a surprised gift for some of our friends I made a full collection of Dharma Initiative Wine Charms. I guess they could be worn as necklaces too, but they are almost a little big for that.) Through the magic of shrinky dinks, i made this set of 12 charms from some of our favorite Dharma stations and work groups, including the swan, hydra, flame, looking glass, orchid, pearl, temptest, arrow, lightpost, the motorpool, cooking staff and security.
Note: My Post office assured me that these would arrive by Tuesday's lost party. Of course they didn't arrive until Friday! Grrrr. Since the surprise is ruined I decided to make the photos viewable by everyone! Dave & Amy, Matt & Wilma - Josh and Bryce have these and I figured each couple could get four. Enjoy!
