I shot this just outside of Pringle, South Dakota. The Black Hills are a great place for lightning storms.

This is Lockheed's second military plane named the "Lightning." This jet is impressive, but I still feel that the P-38 Lightning is more beautiful.

MONOCHROMATIC GOODNESS!!

Lightning strikes over Lincoln County in Las Vegas NV. Unfortunately I was at work and couldn't take pictures when the best strikes were happening so I wasn't watching. But, my coworkers were oooo and ahhhing saying "that was a good one!" etc. Soon as I got off from work I rushed home to grab my gear and drove to my spot for lightning up north. =)

My first ever successful capture of lightning.

So many times in the past when there has been a thunderstorm its been tipping down with rain and no flashes directly in front of the window.

As it was so noisy last night I thought I'd chance my luck and try to get a lightning image as the storms raged over head. I was rewarded with this shot from the spare bedroom window, just before 2.00 am this morning. Tired now!

In the late afternoon thunderstorms developed over the Italian Alps near Riva del Garda. They drifted southeast towards Rovereto.

Storms continuously developed upstream so it was not too difficult to find a spot for several hours of lightning activity.

As is often the case with such trailing storms, almost all lightning was IC and CC. I didn't see a single CG......

Nonetheless the CC that I witnessed were spectacular at times.....

An unbelievable lightning storm last night passed us by to the North. This is an 8-second exposure. To watch it in real time was just amazing. Constant flickering with bolts coming out of the clouds with a speed that seemed like a time-lapse.

Here is the video I took with my phone.

This is a stack of 16 individual frames taken from the central Texas area within 5 minutes of each other, during the evening of May 16, 2025. The storm was moving from West to East. Highly electrified storms moved through the area, and I wanted to show the amount of lightning these storms produced.

I love the song "Lampo" by Gianmaria Testa but Lampo means lightning and I don't have any photos of it. But the other day I found this lightning road and hope it fits to the song. Here is a bit in Italian and a bit in English via translation software.

"però la vita é subito

tu mi dici così

si ma la vita é subito

il tempo, soltanto il tempo

di una fotografia

il lampo che abbaglia negli occhi

e non ci vedi più "

"However, life is just this moment

so you say to me

but it is just here and now-

time, only time;

a photo

the lightning flash that dazzles the eyes

and we do not see "

Listen to the song please.

This is another recently recovered shot which, unfortunately, is not an original edit. This shows a wall cloud illuminated by lightning about three miles north and east. The cell was tornado warned shortly before this.
