This is my first successful lightning photo. I took it last week from the verandah of the house we were staying at, at Diggers Camp in northern NSW, using a long exposure and hoping for the best! My family were walking on the deck, hence the shake of the lights at Minnie Waters in the distance. We had a few nights like this.
We are off to Darwin tomorrow for Christmas, so am hoping for more lightning photo opportunities!
I may not get a chance to upload anything before Christmas, so if not, Merry Christmas everyone.
Got several awesome single exposure lightning strike photos tonight. Thankful for the quarter inch of rain we got this evening. More thankful that my fire chief got to watch the storm with me when the lightning started instead of answering a page.

Day 3 of this summer heat wave and the weather is getting more temperamental each evening ... had a wonderful time this evening catching some great bolts at Gerringong and Kiama

I shot this just outside of Pringle, South Dakota. The Black Hills are a great place for lightning storms.
Previously, hours and days were spent trying to capture lightning striking a tall tower. Now lightning striking The WTC Spire is a common occurrence during a storm.

In late July of 2016 we were treated to some insanely beautiful and powerful lightning displays in the midwest. By all accounts I probably should be dead from having been this close!
MONOCHROMATIC GOODNESS!!
Lightning strikes over Lincoln County in Las Vegas NV. Unfortunately I was at work and couldn't take pictures when the best strikes were happening so I wasn't watching. But, my coworkers were oooo and ahhhing saying "that was a good one!" etc. Soon as I got off from work I rushed home to grab my gear and drove to my spot for lightning up north. =)
Lightning Storm, Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The lightning strikes are in Grand Teton National Park although the photo was taken from the Bridger Teton National Forest.

As it was so noisy last night I thought I'd chance my luck and try to get a lightning image as the storms raged over head. I was rewarded with this shot from the spare bedroom window, just before 2.00 am this morning. Tired now!
