We have aspects of ourselves behind us, some troubled, some trapped.
When we stand tall, tuck in our shirt and face the light, our strength and independence shines!
This Stairwell Multiplicity was an effective experiment in specific ways:
makeup(eyes)
costume (various stripes)
composition (stairway angles)
shape (expressive body language)
and lighting (direct flash on main subject w/catch lights).
I do find the message of the photo a little ambiguous for my liking,
but overall I'm pleased with how the concept and various elements were executed.

We were not home for Halloween this year, because of the power outage across Connecticut. We did go trick or treating at Great Grandpas and Grandmas house, but never really got any good photos of the girls. We decided to dress back up and took some tonight.

Picked up a great lighting kit at B&H today. A few umbrellas, a soft box, some reflectors, and some diffusers.
Want to eventually figure out a way to make a home studio.
Played most of the night...taking goofy, overly exposed photos.
But man they're a great time.
Lighting. and photography.
Who knew?
My Avengers display is finally complete! Took a while to gather all the nendoroids and then the gauntlets (2 versions) from Lego, and light up kits from Lightmybricks.

I was asked to take some portraits of my companies "experts". Since this was my first shoot I wanted to share :) My Coworker and friend Brad was among one of those. I used a key Light and kicker in the back @ half the power using 5500K I do have some hard light under the nose but I think it adds a nice depth without completely losing detail. I chose not to light the backdrop (muslin white) and allow it to go grey. I may build a backdrop light later so I can create a high key background. Since this was a company shoot I didn't want go bright white.

Photo shoot with Charlee that actually worked out. One of the few times this past week that she has had her eyes open for an extended period of time. Can't believe she is already a week old.

Baby Set up Shot. Evie was my assistant today for shots I was trying to take with Charlee. We used her new cabbage patch doll for a model while I set up my lighting. I thought the photos actually turned out pretty funny and actually good...... needless to say the ones with Charlee didn't fair so well. I'm learning that sometimes photos of newborns just don't end up working out the way you plan, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. So here we have Evies cabbage patch model.

My new D60! I love this little thing! My first digital camera was a fuji S7000 and although it took nice pictures it was just too slow and made me mad so I went two years later and bought a D200 kit and swore never to buy a consumer camera again! Although the D200 is technically a consumer camera it's as close as I could get for the money. Well, that thing gets heavy after awhile and after playing with this in the store I just had to get it. After testing it out I find it to give the same quality images, at least from what I can tell, that my D200 produces. If you are looking into the DSLR market don't overlook this great camera.
