After a couple of hours practicing with glass lighting I got my first acceptable photos

The theme for this week (on December 27) is "FESTIVE LIGHTING".

"Looking close... on Friday!" and "festive lighting".

For your info: In the moment i post only my iPhone photography. It's not what i call serious photography, it's more experimental and "just enjoy" the output of actual smartphone quality. Last not least photography is not a challenge of hyper quality or pixel peeping. Atmosphere and feeling is what touch our souls.

GB Railfreight's Class 92, 92028 (formerly named "Saint Saëns") in the super-sub role once more working the Caledonian Sleeper Down Highlander (1S25) through Hartford.

023 was originally planned to work this service, but after it experienced a few niggles on the ECS in the morning the formerly flaky blue and orange engine that's fast building a reputation as the dependable super-sub stepped up to the plate.

There's lots of lighting of late, and whenever there's a thunderstorm, you'll see me standing on the balcony and trying to catch a few flashes of it. It's surprisingly hard to catch even when you can let your camera collect data for 20 minutes with 15 second exposures - but every so often, there is one after all.

I hope to catch one that I don't have to crop eventually - this one isn't cropped that much, but it would be without the negative space above and below the flash itself.

This is my youngest. He knocked out some 80's rock for me while posing and letting me practice with my lighting. Oddly enough, he wasn't posing here, he was just looking at something behind him. I ended up liking it the best even though he's not playing his guitar here. I liked it so much when I took it I had him do several poses similar to this one.

This is one of those shots where the title and concept came first, and eventually after lots of planning and hit or miss weather, I finally nailled the shot.

Not sure why the purple lighting, but it does look interesting this way. It was a pleasant and fairly warm day, so I decided to walk over to the Americana (and later the Galleria), even though I can't use my Canon EOS on the premises. (A year ago I got away with a few stills and video, but security caught me and told me to put it away. So it's been a year since I did anything here with my Canon.)
