Today saw a trip to Sandy to view the result of the decorating (and more) and it looks great.

This light fitting caught my eye. Normally something that throws patterns up on the ceiling would do my nut in, but in this small hallway it provides interest rather than distraction.

Nice.

Experiments to capture different lighting moods using the same subject matter and lighting. in this case an off camera 580 Ex trigered with ST-E2.

Snooted speedlight created an edgy and more dynamic mood compared to the Lightfitting 1 image which used diffused light from a triggered 580 EX through an umbrella.

I set the selftimer to 2 seconds, held the camera under a lightfitting with six exposed bulbs and tossed the camera towards the light.

I noticed these steps and had to take a shot for a moody black and white.

It's been darkened a little and had some grain added in post. :)

We've been slowly adding finishing touches to our home for the last 5 years. Light fittings were on our list but I'd never got excited about deciding what fittings should go where.

Then Masters had 40% off light fittings and we decided to just go and choose some from the ones they had in stock.

We ended up with 10 light fittings for all the living areas and bedrooms.

Emily really wanted a pink light so that narrowed the choices down a bit. Lucy loves her chandelier and proudly tells everyone about it! Edward's rocket light reflects in his mirror and windows, so it looks like there are lots of rockets.

Phill couldn't leave it there, so he got a Lifx bulb for our room. It may not be a clap activated light, but it's pretty cool to be able to turn it on and off, dim and change the colours via our phones.

Bird {with exasperation}: When IS our mummy going to fix all the lights in our house?

Julia : Well, she is very busy and there is a problem with the voltage ... or something like that.

Me : Years ago I had working lights in some of the rooms - but a pet rabbit ate the wiring !!

This is a light I designed for Saatchi & Saatchi (where I work in Cape Town). I had an artist named Brett Murray make it for me.

Taken inside out local Westfield shopping mall, the light fixtures caught my eye - they looked so much like mini UFOs flying inside the mall. The big window was an obvious backdrop.
