The De La Warr Pavilion is a grade I listed building, located on the seafront at Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex, on the south coast of England. The Art Deco and International Style building was designed by the architects Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff and constructed in 1935. Although sometimes claimed to be the first major Modernist public building in Britain, it was in fact preceded by some months by the Dutch-influenced Hornsey Town Hall.
There's not a lot to say about this although I expect I'll end up blarting some kind of trundle about nothing that intertwines with a conversation I'm having with somebody from 1987.
On reflection, what I've done here makes me look like a skull with some skin stretched over it, which of course it is, but you know what I mean.

Light fitting - The Vale of the Ram District (Valdimontone)
Valdimontone is situated in the south-east of the city near Porta Romana. Traditionally, its residents were tailors.
Valdimontone's symbol is a crowned rampant ram, with a blue shield emblazoned with the letter "u" for Umberto. Its colours are red and yellow, with white trim.
It is allied with Onda (Wave) and opposed to Nicchio (Shell), its neighbour.
Valdimonte last won the Palio on 16 August 2012
Once again, I spectacularly failed to take a photo at the tip. I think once you get in there you're just so focussed on getting out that anything else goes to the wall!
That switch I dug out yesterday didn't get fitted as the existing one wasn't faulty. Happy days.
Then we had our usual Wednesday night gathering with a very nice roaring fire. Rather than going for a shot of the fire, I've instead opted to look up. This is the shadow cast by the fire as all the lights were off. :)
I set the selftimer to 2 seconds, held the camera under a lightfitting made from hundreds of zipties and tossed the camera
towards the light.
I suppose I will eventually, but I don't like to dwell on it...
The De Le Warr Pavilion, crown of Bexhill on Sea - I'm astonished there isn't an orderly-queue-of/unseemly-scuffles-between people waiting to photograph this light fixture. Even though there weren't, I bet I'm not the first person to take this somehow...

The Cathedral of Cartagena in Colombia, officially the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria (Spanish: Catedral BasÃlica Metropolitana de Santa Catalina de AlejandrÃa), is located in the historic centre of Cartagena. It is the episcopal see of the Archbishop of Cartagena de Indias, one of the oldest episcopal sees in the Americas. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
The cathedral was designed by master builder Simón González, modelled after basilicas in Andalusia and the Canary Islands. The present tower was designed by French architect Gastón Lelarge, the result of remodelling in the early twentieth century. Construction began in 1577, replacing a humble cathedral of straw and reeds. In 1586, while the church was still under construction, it was attacked by the English privateer Francis Drake, which caused severe damage and delayed its completion. The building was finished in 1612.
The cathedral has a fine doorway and a simply decorated interior. It contains an 18th-century gilded altar, a Carrara marble pulpit and elegant arcades sustaining the central nave
This light fitting caught my eye a few weeks ago. I'm not sure how I thought the photo would look, but I don't think it was like this...
Oh well. I'm not UNhappy with it, and have not much else to choose from, so TA-DAAAHH! Here is offering 30 :)
(Oh. And I couldn't get it any straighter, and I agree it would look better lined up... :p)
Found a fun piece of pareidolia this evening - much more pleasant than the last one I discovered! This amazed looking chap is the rear of a light fitting, recently replaced in one of my snakes vivariums
After a break of around half an hour sitting on the steps of the Basilica of San Domenico, I was getting a bit bored, so I went off one more time to explore Siena, as well as to buy a Tuscany calendar on the way back!
I headed up Via del Paradiso which is in Dragon teritory!
Drago is situated to the north-west of the Piazza del Campo. Traditionally, its residents were bankers.
Drago's symbol is a flying golden dragon carrying a banner with the letter "u". Its colours are red and green, trimmed with yellow. Drago won the Palio on July 2, 2014, and again on July 2, 2018.
Ceiling, Plaza Ballroom, Regent Theatre - taken at Melbourne Open House. Ornate bronze chandeliers hang from the Aztec ceiling, which is colourfully embellished with heraldic emblems in hand-painted tempera.
I felt inspired the other day to photograph some of my favourite objects, some new acquisitions and birthday presents, some are old faithfuls...
Its Autumn here and the colours are lovely brick-reds and steely grey-blues...
Again, a piece of broken china plate with mulberry red stripes, part of a ceramic ceiling light pulley, and a set of stamped silver spoons from Etsy seller 'JLynnCreations' which I asked to have custom-stamped with 'silence, patience, tendresse, douceur'...to remind me to be calm and relaxed sometimes!! And my lovely old find of a '30 kilometre speed limit' road sign propped underneath until I decide which old brick wall it will hang on.
The foyer of the Rex Theatre, Charlton, VIC, Australia.
Opened to the public on Saturday 15th October 1938 (Charlton Show Day). The opening program was "A Star Is Born" starring Janet Gaynor and Frederick March and "Paradise For Two" starring Jack Hulbert and Patricia Ellis.

We were now heading along Via delle Terme in Siena through Goose (Oca) territory. Their flags were on buildings on both sides of the road. The guided walking tour of Siena, heading towards the Piazza del Campo.
Near Via dei Pittori.
Flag and goose sculpture - The Noble Goose District (Oca)
Oca is situated just to the west of the Piazza del Campo. Traditionally, its residents made dyes.
Oca's symbol is a crowned goose wearing around its neck a blue ribbon marked with the cross of Savoy. Its colours are green and white, with red trim.
Oca is one of only four nobile (noble) contrade; it earned its title for its people's bravery during many battles fought by the former Sienese Republic.
The most recent palio win for Oca was in the July 2, 2013 race, with jockey Giovanni Atzeni riding Guess.

Wer das Kleinod will erlangen
1.) Wer das Kleinod (a) will erlangen,
Der muss laufen, was er kann.
Wer die Krone will empfangen,
Der muss kämpfen wie ein Mann,
Dazu muss er sich in Zeiten
Auf das Beste vorbereiten,
Alles andern müßig gehn,
Was ihm kann im Wege stehn.
2.) Herzens-Jesu, deine Güte
Steckt mir auch ein Kleinod für,
Das entzündt mir mein Gemüte
Durch den Ausbund seiner Zier.
O, wie glänzt die schöne Krone
Von dem hohen Ehrenthrone,
Die du in der Herrlichkeit
Deinen Streitern hast bereit'!
3.) Mich verlangt von ganzem Herzen,
Auch nicht weit davon zu sein.
Ja, ich ziele recht mit Schmerzen
Auf den freudenvollen Schein.
Doch das Laufen tut mir bange,
Und der Kampf wird mir zu lange,
Der geschmückte Erdenwust
Nimmt mir öfters alle Lust.
4.) Mein verderbter Eigenwille
Hat bald dies, bald das zu tun,
Hält im Laufen vielmals stille
Und will in dem Streite ruhn.
Satan macht mich auch fast mürbe,
Dass mir auch der Sieg verdürbe,
Wenn mir deine treue Kraft
Nicht gewünschte Hilfe schafft.
5.) Drum, mein Jesu, steh mir Armen
In so großer Schwachheit bei,
Lass dich meiner Not erbarmen,
Mache mich von allem frei,
Was mir will mein Ziel verrücken,
Komm, mich selbst recht zuzuschicken, (b)
Gib mir Herzensfreudigkeit,
Fördre meinen Kampf und Streit.
6.) Es verlohnt sich wohl der Mühe,
Ob mirs gleich auch sauer wird,
Wenn ich mich der Welt entziehe,
Die mich stets zurückeführt. (c)
Deine treue Gnadenkrone

Johann Mentzer (* 27.

This is in the conservatory out the back of our kitchen. In the winter we use it to keep the beer cold, but in the summer we open the door and it keeps the kitchen and living room warm!
I'm a weekly commuter - I spend my weekends at home and my weekdays in a tiny flat. The colour scheme is ghastly... The rent is cheap...
I'm afraid that I'm sick as a dog at the moment with some virus I picked up in the States. Drugged up to the eyeballs and feeling sorry for myself.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible...
An attempt at making boring office lighting a bit more intersting.
Trying my hardest to create using inspiration from NIN's 'Ghosts' album artwork (www.flickr.com/photos/nineinchnails/4493734001/in/photost...) which was photographed by Phillip Graybill and Rob Sheridan.
One of the pavilions at the Venice Biennale, created by Greece, was a surreal experience. You went up these stairs and were guided along a platform above a floor of water. At the end there was this one shaft of light and it created a leading path which at first you didn't know where your were going to go.
The inside of one of several large abstract 'sheath' light fittings that punctuate the main hall in the Metquarter shopping centre, Liverpool, and look especially effective with the addition of coloured light by night.

Maybe photography has saved my life for I was not underneath it. I was taking photos in the garden and came in to find the mess. No water involved. It's completely dry. It is where we had a water leak over 2 years ago and the emergency plumber who came was very cavalier and let water pour through that light fitting quite a lot whilst doing the repairs. Now we've had some hot weather I guess it has dried a lot so fallen. Also we have a lot of heavy lorries go by outside here and builders have been doing heavy work next door, also cavalier methods.
Due to long term health problems I am not taking on any more contacts. Please see my profile for more details.
I am very grateful for single invites but really don't want multiple ones. PLEASE no personal graphics, spinning or flashing comments. They stress my eyes.

This was a common sight- note that the Hotel has received an award as recently as 2007 but it looks completely derelict? The moment a building is not used in Bulgaria, it is stripped of anything of worth, windows, doorframes, lightfittings etc for use elsewhere.
