Another shot of the side of the Lightbox, this time with a wider lens to show the top and bottom.
I cropped off the ugly red fencing at the bottom. At the top is a large window to let the sun in. I've read there might be solar panels on top of it too.
There was a bit of distortion due to perspective that I've tried to remove in Photoshop. There's also a bit of barrel distortion that I'm not sure how to shift. I'm not really sure how much distortion to expect from a lens but it's apparent here because of all the horizontal lines. Turning the Photoshop grid on showed me that my eyes weren't deceiving me!

The Lightbox has been designed by an internationally respected team, led by Marks Barfield Architects, creators of the London Eye. Now it’s being built by a well established family firm, R Durtnell & Son, who have a reputation for unusual and high quality buildings.
more lightbox. Ill reshoot some of these in natural light. there are 3 things i have noted.
1. lightboxes are useless unless you buy an expensive one, the light is uneven and bad
2. i need a macro lens
3. Backdrops are the key, im better working outside in the open at this
thoughts welcome
I Recently made myself a lightbox out of an old cardboard box, some paper and some tape, These are the results, I'm pretty pleased with them :D
A portion of the MTA's Lightbox Project on display inside the Bryant Park subway station on Sixth Avenue at 42nd Street featuring backlit photographs by Saul Leiter entitled "Early Color". Really outstanding stuff. Here's a link to the MTA's website for the project.
Better appreciated large.
Rivet and I got our lightbox in the mail today with leftover money from Christmas, and I couldn't not test it out. I know I've been posting a lot of figscraps, but I really wanted to test this, so sorry guys!
No editing done whatsoever. Man, it feels so good to finally say that. : P

A few people have asked me to post details of my DIY lightbox so here you go.
I used some instruction from the internet and knocked this up for a few pence really.
It is sturdy packing box borrowed from my office :-) and lined with white cared bought from the art shop. The back sheet is bent as you can see to avoid any nasty edges.
The light I have there that actually seemed to work quite well is an LED strip desk light so it gives off quite a crisp white light and consumes barely any power.

I decided today to make a lightbox. Total cost was only around ten dollars. Old Epson printer box, tissue, four background papers I already had, just picked up two clamp on work lights and a piece of poster paper. I cut a slit in the back top so I can insert the background paper of choice. Now if I could just stop sticking my thumbs through the tissue on the sides...
Here's the DIY light box I made out of a cardboard box and white tissue paper. It's held together with glue and reinforced with duck tape.
I cut squares out of the left, right, and top sides of the box, then glued the tissue paper over the openings.
Here is the setup that I used it in.

Shot for a College of Business pamphlet for work. Also my first foray into using a lightbox!
Built a small and delightfully portable (and store-able) lightbox today:
Sterlite translucent storage box
3 brooder light covers, with 60 watt incandescent bulbs
Adhesive utensil hooks
Dowel rod
1 yard each of white bleached muslin and black broadcloth
Yardstick
I hung the utensil hooks on the "ceiling" of the light box, and ran the dowel through the hooks. I drape the fabric over the dowel. The lights clamped on either side of the yardstick provide enough counterbalance to hold it up, and I rest the other one on the top of the yard stick. Because the bulbs are only 60 watt (though I picked up some 75s, too) and incandescent rather than halogen, I don't worry that I'm going to start a fire mid-session.
Props to Stephen for the design.
The impressive Lightbox building reflects with the opposite Basingstoke Canal on a bright and sunny October afternoon in Woking, Surrey
I got my lightbox from amazon today and I decided to do some test shots with it! I'm really happy with it and I can't wait to use it for regular photos! Its a little hard to capture? the light because as you can see the backround sometimes varies from white to grey or even extremely light blue. Happy New Year!
