This tunnel was used on location of the Sylvester Stallone film Nighthawks from 1981. The story revolves around the lives of two NYPD police detectives, Det. Sgts. Deke DaSilva (Sylvester Stallone, sporting a beard) and Matthew Fox (Billy Dee Williams) who work undercover, and a terrorist Heymar Reinhardt, alias Wulfgar (Rutger Hauer). In the South Bronx during the late night to early morning hours on New Year's Eve 1980, three armed assailants attempt a mugging on a supposedly unsuspecting woman, who turns out to be DaSilva in drag for a carefully planned sting operation. Fox immobilizes two of the suspects as Deke chases the third upstairs to the 174th Street (IRT White Plains Road Line) Subway Station platform and dares the man to cut him. Deke then incapacitates him and places him under arrest.

The next scene takes place in London on the same day, where Wulfgar bombs a department store, instilling the will of fear in the surrounding society. Meanwhile, back in New York City on January 4, 1981, DaSilva and Fox serve a high risk warrant in the Bronx. They raid a known drug distribution spot. The obvious corruption in the police department is exposed in the suspect's dialogue as a minor subplot. Two days later in London, Wulfgar converses with his contact at a party, Kenna, who tells Wulfgar that Mercer, who we never see but come to know as the financier of Wulfgar's operations, is withholding money owed to Wulfgar because several children were killed in Wulfgar's latest bombing. Wulfgar quickly discovers that Kenna had been held at Heathrow Airport in police custody, and has inadvertently led police to Wulfgar's location. Wulfgar then proceeds to murder Kenna and the policemen who had converged on the location. The next day, he then flees to Paris where he meets his associate, Shakka Holland (Persis Khambatta) at La Sainte-Chapelle. Shakka remarks that La Sainte-Chapelle is a bad meeting place because it's next to (in real life too), the Palais de Justice, a courthouse in Paris. She informs Wulfgar that Kenneth's death was a rash decision, for the police found a passport that he'd brought to Wulfgar on his person. Wulfgar also realizes he has killed one of his own, and is now facing alienation from his allies. With his identity revealed to all European authorities, Wulfgar and Shakka visit a plastic surgeon, who changes Wulfgar's appearance. After the process, the surgeon becomes a liability, and is murdered by Wulfgar, who then flees to New York City. Meanwhile at Central Park, after having their lastest undercover detail compromised by two uniformed officers, DaSilva and Fox are informed that they have been transferred from the Street Crime Unit and into a special Federal-State Unit.

In every moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing. Take a step into the light.

SOOC - Clingman's Dome Sunset.

Finally! Took three visits (and almost missed this one too)! But there it was, through the fog, a glorious sunset!

The posterization looks serious, although the JPEG looks great on my computer. Wonder what's happening?

Looking down my grandsons scabbard

Taken in British Columbia at the Othello Tunnels, now abandoned. I'd have to say this is one of my all time favorite photos--so far, anyways. It's even better because it was a total accidental photo that was a pleasant surprise when I viewed it later! If you view the original size, you'll see the names carved into the wall that surprisingly came out in this accidental exposure--kind of neat!

And I wait, from the other side of the tunnel.

(Taken with a 3G iPhone)

This was part of a mini project where we had to produce a series of photos taken no more than six inches from the ground (or other surface).

This is quite a dingy underpass that is the main way to get from the College to the town centre so we all use it quite often. It has an odd feel when walking through it, quite closed in and echoing.

I thought it would make a nice composition to take this shot and centralise straight down the tunnel.

The paper mill bridge in Bennington, VT. I thought the light at the end of the tunnel was interesting.

Cressbrook tunnel, Monsal trail, Peak District.

SO I was trying to experiment with painting with light and well, I did it mid-day in my BRIGHT dinning room so it was a little hard to do...but this is the end result...sorta happy with it.

Anyways, Always try to stay positive...I know I am a hypocrite saying that but I am trying really hard. God is great and has a plan for me and If I keep that est in my mind and heart, I will be good to go! Have a Great Sunday everyone!

One from a while back, taken in Valparaiso, Chile.

Me and some girls from my hostel took a trip to some suburban parts of the city, and discovered a kind of tower that offered a wonderful view over the whole city.

There was an elevator build into the tower, that leaded to a underground walkway.

Creepy!

Photophobia is a symptom of excessive sensitivity to light and the aversion to sunlight or well-lit places. In ordinary medical terms photophobia is not a morbid fear or phobia, but an experience of discomfort or pain to the eyes due to light exposure.

An excerpt from another poem from long ago:

When grass turns brown does it start from the top?

Or rather is it brown from the bottom?

Once the process starts can you make it stop?

Or is this the inevitable autumn?

June 10, 2009 [can we please just freeze time? i don't want summer to go so quickly]

Ryhdyfelin tunnel was built to provide water from the River Taff to power the local tin plate works, which are now long-closed. The tunnel itself is only around 150m long, Around 50 struts have fairly recently been removed, leaving various rusty remains along the lower parts of the tunnel walls. This view is looking towards the southern portal of the tunnel.

The best way to depart when our time to cross the tunnel comes would be with beauty and music playing around us...
