Work In Progress [WIP] for January 2013 challenge: use blue.
The elements in place.
The sad, crouching woman is from the back page of "The Fairies &Fantasy Art of Selina Fenech 2012 Calendar".
I hate January. Since spending two dark seasons in the high arctic, I've been susceptible to Seasonal Affective Disorder. The only two good things about January are spectacular opportunities for viewing stars and the light at the end of the tunnel effect of once the month is done, the worst of winter is behind us.
Ryhdyfelin tunnel was built to provide water from the River Taff to power the local tin plate works, which are now long-closed. The tunnel itself is only around 150m long, Around 50 struts have fairly recently been removed, leaving various rusty remains along the lower parts of the tunnel walls. This view is looking towards the southern portal of the tunnel.
The scene was illuminated by an LED bike light and over-exposured to reveal a rich mixture of purple, green and other hues.

I would like to thank Paree Erica for providing this cool texture. It's called "Firefly Room Dark"

Not technically perfect, but it has a feeing I like
Are there really only another 100 SPs to go..?
Dedicated to my friend Debbie who when I was bemoaning a lack of ideas for SPs suggested:
" Man Ray (and the other Cubists, surrealists, impressionists, Guernica, Rodin; Michael Angel Oh; Darwin; Mark Twain and Henry David Thoreau on Walden Pond. The New York guy; the Cockroach; War and Peace or Karennina or Little Women, 1850's Boston; Jack the Ripper Portrayal of the philosophies. Sisyphus; Plato's symposium; St Paul consulting MapQuest to find Damascus. The inventors; Franklin and his kite with the lightning bolt? Edison; the Greek in his tub, eureka! Peelers. Gladstone. Wellington(s). The fire of London or Chicago or San Francisco . Global warming. Lobsters. History. The future. The Twilight Zone. "
Plenty to be getting on with then...
"The road less travelled"
Sometimes "the road less travelled" takes you through a dark thorn thicket,
but there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Note: This type of photo is bit off the norm for me, but it was definitely worth
capturing when the opportunity presented itself.
Best viewed LARGE.

monday: see the big picture
When obstacles pop up, ask yourself how stressful the situation really is: will this matter in three months? Three years? For issues of long-term repercussions, write down exactly what do you think the problem is or how the situation needs to change. Brainstorm about what you can do to move toward a better outcome, itemize the steps that must be taken, then create a concrete plan of action.

Day 17/365
I was supposed to shoot in this tunnel few days ago ,but ,things like New years eve and New years day got in the way :)
My husband and I biked to this spot today .It wasn't the best day to be biking ,but, thankfully it wasn't too far.
Climbing onto the tunnel and standing on the ice was quite an experience.Thankfully, I had good waterproof boots on :)
Today ,I was better at ignoring the people who were passing by. I guess having my husband around to help me out with the shoot helped with that. Phew! Baby steps :)
Took this photo in Twickenham- love the lighting and colours with joined up graffiti on the walls. The person walking through was framed in the light at the end of the tunnel. Perfect timing!
Havana, Cuba - A photo of the dark tunnel that makes up the entrance to El Morro. Castillo de los Tres Reyes Magos del Morro (or El Morro) is a picturesque fortress guarding the entrance to Havana Bay (La Bahía de La Habana). Perched on the promontory on the opposite side of the harbour from Old Havana, it can be viewed from miles around as it dominates the port entrance.
When it was built in 1589 in response to raids on Havana Bay, el Morro protected the mouth of the harbour with a chain being strung out across the to the fort at La Punta. Juan Bautista Antonelli, an Italian engineer, was commissioned to design the structure. It first saw action in 1762 when the English led by Lord Albemarle landed in Cojimar and attacked the fort from its rear. In the siege, a watchtower that once occupied the fortress was blown up (the lighthouse was not added until 1845). It fell because the English were able to command the nearby high ground so when the island was handed back to the Spanish, the fort at La Cabaña was built to prevent this from happening again.
Departing downtown Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and headed (one way) toward PIT Airport. Photographed from a Subaru 5-door back seat at 35-mph? Optional red digital compass in upper-right of rear view mirror. The yellow cast within the tunnel, amplified by PhotoToaster and ToonCamera apps, may be sodium-vapor lighting. There is, indeed, “light at the end of the tunnel” • 2014

This is one of many tunnels leading to the Baiyang Waterfall in Taroko National Park. The tunnels need to go through pure rock and marble in some parts, leading to jagged edges and interesting colours.

Tunnel Hill in the Catlins, between Owaka and Glenomaru, used to be part of a rail line shut down in 1971. Walking through this 250 meter (830 feet) long, pitch black tunnel and fixing ones gaze at the opposite end, yes the light at the end of the tunnel, has a dizzying to mesmerizing effect. For sections I felt a bit like floating. Pictured are Katrina and Sean exiting after we'd all made our trip back and forth through the tunnel. This photo makes me want to revisit the documentary Dark Days by British filmmaker Marc Singer about people living in an abandoned tunnel of the New York subway set to the signature tracks from DJ Shadow's Endtroducing.....
Waiting around. Bored. Nothin' much to do. But I'm far from tired now. And I saw a deer today in my yard. So life is good. Amen.

Berlin has two different areas of canalization. The older inner city areas have combined waste water, the outer areas have seperate sewers for wastewater and for rainwater. If the inner city combined sewers are overwhelmed with rainwater there are spillway channels leading directly to the river. This one was built over a hunderd years ago, at some sections more then 20 meters below ground. The drain has a maximum diameter of 4 meters and during heavy thunderstorms it can be filled up completely...
Had no tripod with me - so it is not as sharp as I wished for.
