Die Liebburg
Die Liebburg war einst das Wohnschloss des Geschlechts der Freiherren (seit 1630 Grafen) Wolkenstein-Rodenegg am Hauptplatz der österreichischen Stadt Lienz (Osttirol). Sie wurde Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts erbaut und war von ca. 1608 bis 1653 Wohnsitz der Freiherren. Seit 1988 dient sie als Rathaus der Stadt Lienz.
Geschichte
Die Liebburg wurde in den Jahren 1606 bis 1608 von den Brüdern Sigmund und Christoph von Wolkenstein-Rodenegg erbaut, da ihr Wohnsitz Schloss Bruck am Hochstein ihnen kalt und ungemütlich erschien. Bis 1653 war das Geschlecht Wolkenstein-Rodenegg Eigentümer der Liebburg. Im selben Jahr wurde die gesamte Herrschaft Lienz den Landesfürsten von Tirol zurückgegeben. 1653 wurde sie wiederum um 142.000 Gulden dem Königlichen Damenstift Hall in Tirol verkauft, das nun die Verwaltung führte. 1783 wurde das Damenstift durch Kaiser Josef II. aufgelöst. In den folgenden Jahren diente die Liebburg als Militärlager, Armenspital und bis ins 20. Jahrhundert hinein als Bezirkshauptmannschaft.
Katastrophen
Die Liebburg brannte bei zwei Großbränden in Lienz in den Jahren 1609 und 1723 nieder. Beim Wiederaufbau 1609 wurden die charakteristischen Zwiebeltürme hinzugefügt. Um die Stadt nach 1723 vor weiteren Bränden zu schützen, wurde von der Regierung in Innsbruck eine Feuerordnung herausgegeben. Die Lienzer versprachen, jedes Jahr die Florianiprozession abzuhalten. 1757 und 1758 beschädigte ein Hochwasser die Liebburg.
Moderne Verwendungszwecke
Im 20. Jahrhundert war die Liebburg zuerst Bezirkshauptmannschaft, und nach dem Ankauf durch die Stadtgemeinde unter Bürgermeister Hubert Huber und dem Umbau, ausgezeichnet mit dem Europa Nostra-Preis 1985 bis 1988, Rathaus.

War memorial

Cadastral Community: Lienz. On the north side of the Old Cemetery is the chapel of the district war memorial. The memorial site for the dead and missing of East Tyrol in the two world wars was built in 1924/1925 in place of the former north portal and including the adjacent arcades. Design by Clemens Holzmeister. Due to the unusual iconography of the representations of Albin Egger-Lienz, which caused offense, the chapel was closed for worship in 1926, the renewed consecration was only in 1987. The mighty arched niche in the slightly flared south wall is flanked by blind arcades, which in the adjacent arches integrate. Katastralgemeinde: Lienz. An der Nordseite des Alten Friedhofes ist die Kapelle des Bezirkskriegerdenkmals integriert. Die Gedächtnisstätte für die Gefallenen und Vermissten Osttirols in den beiden Weltkriegen, wurde 1924/1925 anstelle des ehemaligen Nordportals und unter Einbeziehung der angrenzenden Arkaden errichtet. Entwurf von Clemens Holzmeister. Aufgrund der ungewöhnlichen Ikonographie der Darstellungen von Albin Egger-Lienz, die Anstoß erregte, wurde die Kapelle 1926 für gottesdienstliche Handlungen geschlossen, die neuerliche Weihe erfolgte erst 1987. Die mächtige Rundbogennische in der leicht geböschten Südwand ist von Blendarkaden flankiert, die in die angrenzenden Arkadenreihen integrieren. Freskierung innen mit Darstellungen Sämann und Teufel, Sturm, Totenopfer und Auferstandener. Grabstätte von Albin Egger-Lienz.

Katastralgemeinde: Lienz. Das zwischen 1903 und 1904 als Knaben-Volks- und -Hauptschule errichtete, dreigeschoßige Gebäude wurde von Viktor Rizzardi geplant und im Stil des strengen Historismus ausgeführt.

Lienz Southern Bavarian: Lianz is a medieval town in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is the administrative centre of the Lienz district, which covers all of East Tyrol. The municipality also includes the cadastral subdivision of Patriasdorf.
Geography
Lienz is located at the confluence of the rivers Isel and Drava in the Eastern Alps, between the Hohe Tauern mountain range in the north (including the Schober and Kreuzeck groups), and the Gailtal Alps in the south. It is connected with Winklern in Carinthia by the Iselsberg Pass. The neighboring municipality of Leisach marks the easternmost point of the Puster Valley.
By the consistent growth of the city, some smaller villages around – though officially municipalities in their own right – are now widely considered to be suburbs of Lienz. Those suburbs comprise:
