* This is the main bldg of the downtown branch. I hadn't been inside here since high school*
I went to the Houston Public Library (downtown branch) after work today to do some research on the history of my neighborhood. Mangum Manor is officially 50 years old. In December 1954, the neighborhood's first residents, the Sullivans, moved in to 5019 Saxon. At the time, Donna Lynn (my current street) didn't even exist. It wouldn't be for another 15 years that what is now 290 would exist.
The Library of Birmingham is a public library in Birmingham, England. It is situated on the west side of the city centre at Centenary Square, beside the Birmingham Rep (to which it connects, and with which it shares some facilities) and Baskerville House. Upon opening on 3 September 2013, it replaced Birmingham Central Library. The library, which is estimated to have cost £188.8 million, is viewed by the Birmingham City Council as a flagship project for the city's redevelopment. It has been described as the largest public library in the United Kingdom, the largest public cultural space in Europe, and the largest regional library in Europe. 2,414,860 million visitors came to the library in 2014 making it the 10th most popular visitor attraction in the UK

Here is my library, as it currently stands. This photo comprises probably a good eighty percent of the books I own.
I want the whole shelving unit to be filled with books and have a big comfy chair and good lighting to make it my own little library.
The CIA's library is a valuable resource to Agency employees and is available to Agency personnel only. It contains approximately 125,000 books and subscribes to about 1,700 periodicals. The library maintains three collections: Reference, Circulating, and Historical Intelligence. New material for these collections is selected around current intelligence objectives and priorities. To learn more about the CIA, visit www.cia.gov.
I reorganized, so I snapped a few new pictures. It looks dark because the flash showed just how badly the room needs painting (not while my stuff is in there!)
Been a crazy past year, and haven't found as much time to build as I'd like. Yesterday I dug out, polished up, and put on display a few of my builds at the Estacada Regional Library in Oregon. I'll be getting some better photos of the updated steampunk and mecha items when they're out, and hopefully a good studio shoot with the Monorail Maker.
Not stoked on the poor phone shots, they were closing and I didn't have time to really hone in on good pics.
I'd heard that Snodland library had been refurbished - so popped in to take a look.
What a transformation since our last visit! Looks twice the size (a glass walled office has been removed) and is much lighter and brighter. No more tall dark shelves and lots of pale, or colourful, modern furniture.

The peach-colored Rainbow Shower Trees are in full bloom in Honolulu right now. The trees along Maile Way are especially nice at the moment.
If this image looks vaguely familiar, I've taken a pinhole photo of this tree each year for the last 3 years - slightly different angles. Here it is in 2010 and again in 2009.
Do you also revisit a subject and photograph it? Catching it iin different light, angles, or mood? Or do you prefer not to go back?

The Royal Library is with its clean-cut lines and glittering polished surfaces one of the most significant architectural landmarks on the Copenhagen waterfront. Clad in black granite, the extension to the Royal Library is known as The Black Diamond.
Situated in the historic heart of Copenhagen, the extension marks a radical shift from traditional library structure and accommodates a range of cultural facilities. Open and essentially democratic, the building includes scientific and literary institutions, exhibition rooms, a bookshop, a café and a restaurant, as well as a roof terrace and a hall with 600 seats for concerts, theatrical performances and conferences. The extension has doubled the library’s overall size. The open shelves can accommodate more than 200,000 books compared to the previous capacity of 45,000 books. There are six reading rooms with a total of 486 seats.
The new library has seven storeys plus a basement. The solid black cube is divided in two by a vast glazed atrium housing the majority of public functions. This central space, affording panoramic views over the waterfront, also serves as a significant source of daylight which is dispersed throughout the building.
The Royal Library has become an icon for Copenhagen – a prominent, accessible and public focal point for the life in the city. The aim of the design was to create an informal meeting place for citizens in Copenhagen, students, tourists and restaurant guests. The dynamic rooms are crowded with people and filled with movement and life, and in a sophisticated way, the building connects the public and private areas. The purpose of the public space around the building is to create a natural meeting point for everyone in Copenhagen.
